Metric - Celebrate Lyrics

I'll be standing tall
When you call, I'll be at your side
Don't even think of giving in
Know all your fears keep creeping into your mind

Even the darkest hour soon will be over
My friend, it will be over

I've been blessed and I've been cursed
I've been the best, I've been the worst
Now I'll take what's mine

Who wants to celebrate?
And who's just fine to sit and wait?
I gave it everything
Cause I just wanted you

Who wants to celebrate?
I don't have time to sit and wait
I gave it everything
And I just wanted you to feel the same

We've all so often heard it said
There's a road up ahead
That's just beginning

It's hard to see from where I stand
There's a future close at hand
And it's worth living

I've been blessed and I've been cursed
I've been the best, I've been the worst
Now I'll take what's mine

Who wants to celebrate?
And who's just fine to sit and wait?
I gave it everything
Cause I just wanted you

Who wants to celebrate?
I don't have time to sit and wait
I gave it everything
And I just wanted you to feel the same [x2]

Who wants to celebrate?
And who's just fine to sit and wait?
I gave it everything
Cause I just wanted you to feel the same

    This song is deceptively good

  2. M.... W....

Nicely done, Metric. You repeated an amazing chorus so much that I am unable to get it out of my head. It's a win-win really.

  3. N.... A....

    JUST TODAY GUYS, JUST TODAY

  4. B.... ....

    2019🎉

  5. L.... S....

    hi grilfiend

  6. D.... M....

Does anyone else think that the melody is kind of close to Africa by Toto?

  7. e.... ....

Never noticed how the sound goes back and forth with headphones since I usually listen to it in my car. Love this band!

  8. J.... Z....

yo lastofspades. When I left that comment about the piano at 3:44, I was leaving the comment as an impressive and subtle, creative-nuance to her song. I freaking love metric. I dont know what you are so scared of, Metric and their reputation speak for themselves about their value as artists.

  9. J.... Z....

At exactly 3:44, instead of the word “and”, the word is edited out and all you hear is the perfect zip of the synth as if the keyboard said “and” instead.

  10. T.... G....

    Love this vibe.

  11. T.... G....

    Such a great track.

  12. B.... B....

    Song brings good memories

  13. e.... h....

amazing song, like everything Metric does

You taught me a lot Emma.

  15. C.... F....

    Is Good.

  16. C.... F....

And everything you've given is good.

  17. Z.... C....

I love Metric so much and so do my parents! When ever I listen to one of their songs, I always end up singing and bursting up the music!

  18. O.... ....

I hear some dub-step in the mix

  19. A.... C....

i'm here for the chorus it's simple but amazing!

  20. D.... K....

Best song of 2015 (and 2016 so far)! FLAMEZ

  21. K.... E....

    Who wants...?

  22. L.... M....

Anyone remember The Cardigans? This song reminds me of the GT album....

  23. H.... B....

    Loving this!

  24. g.... ....

Their sound really is becoming very poppy. Not sure how I feel about that.

    g.... ....

+getasimbe, I agree. But, I do like this song. However, I do miss their rock sound already. This song could have been done in the form of electronic rock, and would still have been amazing.

    g.... ....

+getasimbe Try not to be such a hipster.

    g.... ....

+getasimbe Metric sounds poppy? Well they are a "pop" band

  25. K.... ....

How can this dancey song be my favorite from the album?? A freaking metric album

  26. K.... O....

Perfect for headphones and dancing around in your Pjs. Emily Haines you NEVER cease to amaze me!!

  27. P.... N....

    Love this song

  28. p.... ....

The verse also sounds like the verse in "Silver Moon" by the now defunct Welsh synthpop band Friends Electric.

  29. J.... K....

The verse also sounds like the verse in "Silver Moon" by the now-defunct Welsh synthpop band Friends Electric.

  30. C.... M....

the chorus also sounds a bit like Sea Castle by Purity Ring. And that Underworld similarity is too close.

  31. M.... L....

Good song. Finally found out what song the chorus reminded me of since the first listen! Toto - Africa https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTQbiNvZqaY

    M.... L....

    Born Slippy by Underworld, probably.

    M.... L....

that could be it. it does sound close if i remember. but idk

    M.... L....

okay upon listening again, it's close but i don't think that's quite it. maybe idk. arrrgh lol

    M.... L....

i'm just gonna go with you on this cuz you're probably right and i don't wanna rack my brain anymore lol

    M.... L....

@Kartoon Lyfe lol it is totally not africa by toto

  32. s.... ....

I like some songs on this album but...for the moment...rock is dead...I miss screeching guitar...feedback...and anger...it's like synth pop and rap took over and even the rock bands have been inspired by all of it...I'm not saying it's bad for them to be...everyone has their own cup of tea they enjoy...but I miss pennyroyal tea...

    s.... ....

@Maybe Next Time Ronda... Or, Maybe Not. lol thank you for your kind words...I really don't mean to bother anybody...but that was just how I feel...when you listen to old world underground or live it out it just sounds so fresh and new even grow up and blow away was good...but ya a lot of bands experiment the wrong way...personally I think radiohead did it the right way even though they are kind of an acquired taste...

    s.... ....

@Nicholas Clark, you do not have to actually thank him. Lol. I am just saying, his comment was hardly anything like some of these angry YouTube commenters. You know, the ones that never go away, and spout some of the most disrespectful things anyone could ever say around. Just saying, it could be worse is all. Lol.

@stereosanctity7, you're welcome. I knew you did not mean anything by your comment. That is why I stuck up for you. Lol. Plus, I feel pretty much the same way about it all. Yeah, some of the artists can experiment and still sound great, but that is few and far between I have noticed.

    s.... ....

    we all miss pennyroyal tea

    s.... ....

The thing is that if you see bands who'd been active for a long time, mellowing out their sound more or less... You know I think one thing is the current "fashion" for music and another is that those musicians simply grew up a lot, and most people start liking less edgy and raw music as they do. It's neither good or bad, just different.

So if you want to still listen to what you used to, you need to research new artists! That's the only solution.

    s.... ....

For starters I'd rec: Chelsea Wolfe, La dispute, Andrew Jackson Jihad

  33. K.... ....

This song is 10x more amazing when you put in headphones and blast the sound. <3

    K.... ....

    +KatNicole or better yet, LIVE

    K.... ....

@David Hillshafer I take it you saw them in concert recently? I went to one of their concerts 3 years ago. :) Was quite awesome :)

    K.... ....

It was the last song of the encore in Toronto at the Danforth!! Amazing.

    K.... ....

    Metric is amazing live!

  34. T.... C....

    sooooooo good!!!!!!

  35. w.... ....

Still not sure if I like the chorus to this song, it kind of seems random and off compared to the pulsy backing track with the verses. Still like the song though!

    w.... ....

+woah11ify Really? I find the chorus is the best part of the song. :P

    w.... ....

Don't get me wrong, on its own I do like the chorus. But when paired with the rest of the song, it just sounds off to me. To each their own I guess haha

    w.... ....

I agree. I feel like the chorus is the worst part of this song. everything else is so catchy

    w.... ....

Heh. I showed my boyfriend this song and he agreed with me that the chorus was the best part. :P You two are just silly. ;) joking joking :P

    w.... ....

+woah11ify Yeah i hear You. It's like two songs in one. But in other side there is so much synergy with thous sounds and rythm… I love it.

  36. R.... T....

Do you think the Underworld “Born Slippy” resemblance was purposeful or accidental?

    R.... T....

You guys aren't going back far enough... this whole album is a beautiful love letter to great synth bands from the 80's.... Underworld and Metric were just loving the same thing :)

    R.... T....

....and it is wonderful live. I love the way Metric didn't pussy out on the production of this album, and the synths are really loud and pushed forward. Live (Saw them in Glasgow) the bass notes hit hard and it's every bit as good as you'd hope :D

    R.... T....

Same. Also came here to leave this comment :D

    R.... T....

Didn't know that Underwold had copyrighted 3/4 delayed piano stabs...

    R.... T....

    Definitely.
