I grew up with this album just like Star Trek fans grew up with The Next Generation,  the point being is that both were great in their own right aside from the products that preceded them,  die hard fans need to get over themselves and quit hating on them for going mainstream with the Black Album  

This is the song that made me love metallica. I asked everyone of my family for a metallica album as a kid (because my friends liked them of course) and the only one I got was from my great-grandmother (mothers mothers mother). It was the black album.. As I listened through it I really loved this song.. and for about a year afterwards I listened to this song and this song only as I fell asleep (CD-Player set on repeat once and wearing headphones).

Doubt you remember typing that, but good to know I'm not the only person that falls asleep to metal.

When I see or hear someone dis this album, this is always the song I think of. Just because it was different than what they did before and (mainly) because it was massively successful, "metal fans" like to talk shit about it. Maybe they should think about how many people that this brought into metal. People who had never heard it before because it never got played on the radio finally got the chance to experience it, which allowed for other bands to eventually start getting air time.
