You can do it with any of their songs if you can just find the core sig.

it's just they mostly play polyrhythms, not polymetrics. Usually Haake makes all their songs groove using the simplest 4/4 pattern on hands (backbeats on 2 and 4 while cymbal leading 8 notes), the polyrhythm is in his legs.

The intro riff actually sounds a bit like a more aggressive tool to me. They did tour together, so I imagine some cross influencing happened.

I was at a lot of tool shows between '05-'12... They always were playing meshuggah in between the openers and them .. I imagine they respect Meshuggah a TON

Guys i'm a drummer. Music theory is not something you can guess or improvise. Why someone talk about time signatures or polyrhythms whitout knowing what he is talking about? Combustion is ALL in 4/4 like 90 percent of meshuggah songs. 4/4 means that if you need to write down the piece you'll have 4 beats per bar and each beat duration is 1 quarter note.

Meshuggah only writes in 4/4

at 1.5 speed the snare just sounds like someone is beating the shit out of someone with a trout
