Meshuggah - Choirs Of Devastation Lyrics

Melting hands, as in fear they've ruled
but will not anymore
Determination now only a coagulating fluid
burning its pathes down the sad soil

Clouds pregnant with heavy rain
opens up its portals and pour upon earth,
the moist of a lost childhoods
embrace as it boil.

Believe-as you see-the anticipation
lost in mourning choirs of devastation
The aimless glow, we thought would never cease
now groan out its renunciation.

Toxic airwaves throwing their corrosion,
like patternless meshes over consumed ground.
Earth, blindly-stretch out her maimed arms,
only to receive the certainty-there's no help to be found

No one's to blame as streams of equality washes away,
the last traces of humanity's existence.
We just sat, like contented denials as abnegation
took its toll in exterminations' enhance.

We claimed, the dead would open the eyes of the living,
but who's left to exclaim the words-we were right.
Memories of anguish lie as whisper in the heat
Only bareness observe the last remains float out of sight.

  5. Z.... S....

    1991...

  6. B.... I....

Still reminds me of last entertainment by Coroner, same sort of spoken word instrumental type song and technical sounding

  7. B.... H....

For years I've wondered what that voice says in the beginning. "shut off" ? Great song.

    B.... H....

In English I always imagined they were saying "can you tell I was showin' off", lol...

    B.... H....

This has bugged me for a while. Kind of sounds like “Turn that shit off” but I can’t tell if I’m only hearing it cause I’m already thinking it.

    B.... H....

I always thought it was "Shut up" twice lmao

    B.... H....

Ive always thought it was a very deadpan "okay now shut up".

    B.... H....

@Stephenie Naroleski Not a bad guess tbh Stephenie haha

  8. S.... N....

    Mesh-alli-guh.

  9. M.... N....

Loved them back around this era when they still had tons of melody in their music... the interesting time signatures are fine, but when that's all there is... along with extremely detuned guitars... it just gets boring as fuck to me. They essentially became a different band once "Nothing" was released... I wish they could get thrashy and more diverse at least one more time before they retire.

    M.... N....

Their new single from the new album sounds a bit like a modern Chaosphere.

    M.... N....

    @Forsete
Chaosphere was sort of a fringe album for me, it's got mostly good songs on it, imo, but was definitely showing a style transition between DEI and Nothing. With that said, I still think that Chaosphere had way more thrashy elements than it did "djent"... whereas their new album sounds much more like the rest of what they've done *since Chaosphere... than it sounds like Chaosphere itself. That's in terms of everything from the way he screams, the guitar tunings, the song structures, etc.

    M.... N....

Yes sir. After chaosphere, I was done with meshuggsh

    M.... N....

HAHA wtf, what i just wrote on a comment on this video:" What Killed Rock & Roll? (Hint: It Wasn't Hip Hop) "

    M.... N....

Mr. Nerve Damage not happening tho

  10. A.... ....

symphony of destruction from megadeth and choirs of devastation from meshuggah lol

    A.... ....

symphony is from 1992 this is from 1991

    A.... ....

A perfect mashup would be choirs of destruction - megaggah

  19. M.... T....

Meshuggah isn't exactly my #1 favorite band, but they're in my top 5 or 10. But I've never been as impressed and astounded by another band as I have by Meshuggah. So innovative <3

  20. s.... ....

Meshuggah - Being ingenious and epic since.. ever :DD

  21. B.... D....

I got to suck this guys dick for the second time because of this song. Thanks Meshuggah!

  22. Y.... ....

    Convert from pop?

  23. Y.... ....

  24. K.... B....

you should be very proud of that :)

  25. M.... S....

    Textbook Metallica

  26. Y.... ....

I 'converted' my girlfriend from pop, to this.

  27. S.... ....

there was tech death back in the 90s?

  28. T.... K....

Was it done in polyrhythms? xD

  29. L.... D....

I appreciate how the band is not even of the USA yet their first album's cover is an image of New York City.

  30. J.... V....

Yeah, that was an old comment. My ear has improved a bit, sorry haha.

    J.... V....

Jimmy Van Cleaf oh rip NVM on my other reply then lmaoooo but I guess it's there for anyone who's interested

  31. M.... T....

    Damn this is awesome

  32. T.... ....

@Thermingt0n yea YEAAAAAAAA so good. Man I adore tool.

  33. P.... R....

    Opeth? NOPE- Just Meshuggah.

  34. B.... F....

I figured it out, this sounds just like a Steve Vai song from passion and warfare

  35. J.... V....

Correct me if I am wrong, but I'm guessing that intro was in the Mixolydian mode.

    J.... V....

Jimmy Van Cleaf I'd say it's mostly post tonal with a bit of Lydian rather than Mixolydian.. since it starts off on the acoustic with an Ab sus2 moving into D and D# and A and A# (idk what you'd call that but it only exists in the chromatic scale and maybe a few others). Then when the electric guitar comes in the second chord on the acoustic becomes the exact same tones as the first but a tritone apart, and since the electric guitar is playing in parallel thirds on D and F and C and Eb (if you think of the Ab as being a temporary tonic that definitely means it's briefly giving a Lydian feel) over the Ab sus2 before the contrary motion to the upper F# and lower A on the D sus2, you get that REALLY pretty major tritone cadence. Meshuggah clearly had a knack for soul meltingly powerful harmony progressions that they almost entirely abandoned when they became one dimensional lyrically metaphorical polymetric rage. Which is fine. They were my favorite band for years on just that alone. But if they'd managed to keep this kind of dramatic Harmony and balance it in song structures with atonal chaos. We can only imagine... Haha. Thankfully there's tons of projects that manage to succeed in that partially following the mold they established within metal :)

  36. D.... H....

    this is it!

  37. T.... ....

so bucketheadandtool uploaded meshuggah, the best music of our time right there.

  38. H.... R....

    Math Metal!!!!!

  39. D.... L....

@vankabel | Old Stuff sounds a little bit like *thrash metal*
    FTFY

  40. D.... ....

    1:52 best

  41. v.... k....

Old Stuff sounds a little bit like metallica ..BUT ..1000 times BETTER

    v.... k....

the path Metallica chose not to take

  42. d.... ....

@JSPAG518 Yes, there are less commercial things. A band can't continue to play exactly the same forever. It doesn't work like that. What they have done now is better and more important than this. Just because it's more underground doesn't mean it's better.

  43. d.... ....

@JSPAG518 Shut up, you're an idiot. What makes this less commercial? Thrash metal with some progressive chords. Their new material is way more unique.

  44. d.... ....

@JSPAG518 No way man, you crazy?

  45. F.... O....

@Reaper1984 Not this one. He does his first vocal appearance in Spasm.

  46. B.... ....

    @HINRG14 epic.

  47. p.... ....

    Fuckin \m/ !!!

  48. b.... ....

    0:00-1:50 is COOL!

  49. C.... ....

    Amazing band + song.
Is this related to Symphony of Destruction (Megadeth) at all? Just an extremely similar name.

  50. t.... ....

Sounds a wee bit like an earlyish metallica song, but not much. Not my favourite song, from them, but still good.

  51. S.... D....

Tell me why this is absolutely excellent

I'm covering this. like right now

  52. J.... D....

    @13guitard00d
Tomas Haake does the speech parts in the tracks.
However Jens is still awesome, haha.

  53. J.... D....

    @Aivopiirakka
    It's definately in their top10.
Amazing song, the intro is really awesome.
First song i heard with them, and i was hooked.
Don't like what they've done after chaosphere tho.

  54. A.... ....

When I search Meshuggah from YouTube, why this isn't among the first results? This is like the best song I've ever heard from them.

  55. M.... B....

I love both Meshuggah and Korn but does bands with 7 string guitars directly rip off Slayer riffs?

  56. S.... M....

yeah this whole cd reminds me of a heavier metallica

  57. M.... L....

yea me2 :o this song pwns!

  58. t.... ....

Yea, Meshuggah makes some SICK music but I cant stand Jens vocals. They just pierce everything.
    Music is amazing though

  59. w.... ....

i only like this becuz i cant hear them sing lol musics great tho

  60. L.... B....

the intro is amazing and(I never thought to say this in comment for meshuggah video) emotional, reminds me on blackened by metallica, and also solo is atmospheric,Jens talking sounds like hetfield talking on to live is to die
this album was released 1991(same year as black album)
this album to me sounds like more progressive and technical version of and justic for all(from what i heard)

  61. F.... J....

gee, i think you answered your own question there, son!

  62. O.... S....

I think this is one of the best progressive-metal bands of all times.
Each member of the band is talented and very skilled at their instrument and they create a perfect harmony with all their different influences. I like this song a lot.

  63. t.... ....

Awesome song. I love all of Meshuggah, even their old days here are amazing, and still very complex and technical

  64. I.... ....

this is still pretty technical man...

  65. I.... ....

this is before their 8 string days

  66. H.... ....

my girlfriend really likes it. shes just getting into REAL metal now

  67. H.... ....

I got my 2nd ever blowjob thanx to this :0 meshuggah!!

  68. F.... ....

Man, this takes me back! I still have this on cassette somewhere! the early nineties were the years for thrash!
