Merle Haggard - Mexican Bands Lyrics
No savvy Chicano, no savvy espanole
I'm learning as fast as I can
'Cause I love frijoles, tortillas and tacos
And listening to old Mexican bands
And I too like to work with my hands
And early manana, I smoke want I wanna
And listen to old Mexican bands
And I love the wave of the trumpets
And the smell of a Mexican rose
Can almost see her sombreros
The glitter and cut of her clothes
And I love old Mexican music
No savvy amigo but I love the fandango
And listening to old Mexican bands
And I love the wave of the trumpets
And the smell of a Mexican rose
Can almost see her sombrero
The glitter and cut of her clothes
And I love old Mexican music
Agave, it makes me dance on my hands
No savvy amigo, I love the fandango
And listening to old Mexican bands

Merle Haggard Mexican Bands Comments
Who can ID an old Merle Haggard track for me please? I bought an 8-track 'Best Of' in 1974 that had a song with words about his sweetheart south of the border (Mexican). Must be a rare track, because I have never run across it again.
I think it was called ‘Go Home’
@zico9k Bingo! Thanks! That's it.
Such a fantastic song and it reminds me a lot of Marty Robbins style of Southwestern music, old friends now with the LORD.
I love this song! Have never heard this one so happy I stumbled into it. Merle's talent is overwhelming. Thanks for posting this gem.
You see Gringos! Learn from Merle! He was a gringo that UNDERSTOOD the Mexican Latino culture and he did think that we were so bad! RIP
I would be hard-pressed to pick Merle Haggard's best song because I love 99% of them. Merle has always written and sang such down to earth songs for the common man. However, Haggard was not a proponent of illegal immigration to the extent it has now become. I have no problem with farm workers coming over from Mexico, but we have to have an honest system and not a lawless roughshod system which Obama has become to symbolize when everybody knows that he and the Democrats jump on things like this for the votes. The way I see it is that a wall is the only way to protect Americans as well as illegals from gangs like MS13 out of Guadalajara, for example.
I see your point and just as an observation, MS13 are note from Guad, they are not even from Mexico they are from El Salvador. just fyi
America does not need a wall America played a big part in tearing down the wall in Germany why do we need one
I long for the old days
When we did not have checkpoints
Institutionized racism
Regular electoral college elections
And a future for ourselves and our children
I write this in Mexico
Because I love Mexican bands
And I esmoke marihuana
BEST EVER! MERLE HAGGARD
Just love ♥
Tomás Guerra love this mans music
I do, Carolyn. In fact, I just re-shared the piece. Yes! ♥ Great Sunday
Early manana, I'll smoke marijuana is what it should be...wake and bake Merle! Peace, out.
There is something to be said for innuendo, but that said I always sing it as MJ when I'm singing along. I'm still holding out hope that some day someone will post a video of him doing it live where Merle sings it that way too, hahaha
Almost ruined one of my favorite songs when I saw Charlie Daniels and he changed Long Haired Country Boy to "Cause I get down in the mornin, and get up in the afternoon." smh
RIP Merle
Another great song that shows The Man's versatility with music...This one was released on Merle's 2010 album titled, "I Am What I Am".
Thanks for these lovely Mexacali songs. Give us more.
I mean dulce!!!
I love this song HAG.
Gracis for sharing this.
Best line...Agave makes me dance on my hands. Classic!
Merle always knocks me out. Nobody like him and Willie Nelson. Absolutely in a league of their own. I live in Texas, and the first time I heard this I swore it was already flowing in my veins.
welllll waylon is the goat of country music, but merle and willie are in that elite category.
Wow, this is beautiful.
@cuvtixo You and I alike.
In early mañana, I'll smoke what I wanna! ;)
