Sergio Mendez's contribution was the arrangements, his impeccable taste. He created this group with these people to make this sound. The vibe, the groove-just eternally hip and cool. They were a bridge between jazz, pop, bossa nova and rock music. Sergio had world class jazz piano chops. Before Brazil 65 and 66 he had been gigging in New York with many of the bebop jazz legends. Just the epitome of taste, groove, vibe and cool.

I have always enjoyed listening to them. Grew up with their sound and as stated here.....they had their own unique sound taking a song and changing it to their own.

WIP in Philly played all their hits. I heard their versions before the originals. Heard this before Simon & Garfunkel. Heard their "Fool On The Hill" and "Norwegian Wood" before I ever knew they were by the Beatles'.

From the movie 'The Graduate' by Simon & Garfunkel, this version is 'the bomb'!

Never thought about this excellent version of the Simon and Garfunkel hit compared to Riders but this came out in '68. Riders came out in '69 or '70.

Sergio Mendes version of this song and Simon and Garfunkel's version are the best I have heard.

Such a simple and beautiful song and great rendition toad to the Simon and Garfunkel version.  I have come to regard Lani Hall as my all time favorite female vocalist.

in interviews Densmore (Doors drummer) said the Brazilian sound -Bosa Nova- was gaining popularity and they incorporated that into their music- specifically the drums on 'Break on Through' .. but Im sure in other joints/ songs as well...

This group had it all together, no other way to put it. Have loved their 
music since '64. LOVE the instrumental from 1:30 to 2:20.

The instrumentals are great, but these women's voices are what make this recording amazing.

this is like the only good thing that came with heavy traffic. without  that stupid movie i never would have heard this awesome version of this song. 

@Leah Cox Ralph Bakshi is widely considered a creative genius, and Heavy Traffic (among his many works) a cult classic -- and yeah, Sergio's version of Scarborough Fair is awesome!

I really do appreciate his willingness to experiment with animation. I think wizards though is much more interestingly animated he really branches out with different visual styles in that one. I just cant say i like heavy traffic
