Usually bands get boring or stale after so many years not the melvins they change things up yet stay the same if u get what I mean awesome band always and forever

Is it veird I came to know Melvins thanks listening to Tool ? I feel They are kinda too difficult to listen to for masses... I mean that riffs are soo long, drums go from allmost chaotic to kicking in your head with scary precision with vocals that are soo veird that they become amazing and unexpected... And did I mention the guitar riffs ? :)

So True The Melvins Are One Of A Kind

This band has been together since before I was born. They are still better than 90% of music today.

They were as bleeding edge when I bought their "Bullhead" album back in the day as they are these days.

It was highly unpopular at the time to be doing what they´ve always have ... no compromise at all from these guys, even the Atlantic years , even though supported by different channels I did not sense any big compromise on their behalf, maybe just soundwise ( a more polished sound, but that was it) - the band remained as impenetrable as they were before. Too "alternative" for the metal kiddos who love them these days through sheer preserverance , and too sludgy, heavy and weird to the Sonic Youth crowd . The little time Joe Preston was in the band was precious, I still proudly own those vinyl EPs which all of them recorded separately at one point. Curiously Buzz´s one features Grohl´s spoken word vocals for the entire track , something he forgets to mention about having known him from Flipper, then he went to Nirvana and vanished in a world of Super models/cocaine and general glamour (which I do not doubt he did, fuck the Foos, of course).

Melvins are heavy but too weird for metalheads, so no TV. Pretty hard to fit radio ads around the Melvins. A station with a sense of humour could advertise honey after Honey Bucket, a vet after The Talking Horse, or bourbon after A History Of Drunks. But hardly anyone would get it. Like most don't get the Melvins. And that's cool. And do check out Nomeansno, they're cool, too.

Nomeansno? I will HAVE to check it out. I also am a big music fan but only heard of the Melvins like,..a year ago. I can not help to wonder why, they are so talented. Why no air play?

nMn is ok but nothing like Melvins. How much do U know about the Melvins anyway? They've put out so many more albums and music, its uncomparable. Really dive deeper into Melvins "catalogue" & U will hear what I'm talkin about. Ozma, Bullhead, the Maggot, Lysol, Stonerwitch ect, albums U must listen to!! From Seattle I'v been going to see Melvins since 1989 R0k on !

that's great, well we saw them on Matt Pike's birthday, picked up a shit load of merch, patches and vinyl...so we supported even though admission was free

I saw Sleep recently, paid 35€ to see them. I gladly support artist, rather then marketing gimmicks like Scion A/V, thats only purpose is to sell more cars.
