Melissa Manchester - Pretty Girls Lyrics

He's triggered by the rise of their suburban eyes
He likes to stroke the curls of pretty baby girls
And he will never make it on the hit parade, oh no
Behind the counter selling health and beauty aids

In the name of pretty girls,
So pretty girls look good on you
Those pretty girls, so pretty girls
Look good on you

Reserves the luxury of feline company
Femme fatale is all he needs to measure his heroic deeds
Another trying day behind the canopy of lust
He's nurtured by a planned, well tanned philosophy

For the love of pretty girls,
Those pretty girls look good on you
Pretty girls, those pretty girls
Look good on you

I told you that he'd get you right between the eyes

For the love of pretty girls,
Those pretty girls look good on you
Those pretty girls, so pretty girls
Look good on you

Ah, pretty girls, those pretty girls
Look good on you, look good on you
Pretty girls, those pretty girls
Look good on you, hey, mister

Ah, pretty girls, those pretty girls
Look good on you, look good on you
Pretty girls, so pretty girls
Look good on you, yeah good on you, yeah

Nice cover of the original Canadian singer's(Lisa Dal bello wrote it and released it in 1978...) song. I like Dal Bello's version better, tho.

Who sang the song first: Melissa or Lisa Dal Bello?  Even though I do like Melissa, I like Lisa's version of the song better.

    k.... ....

Lisa Dal Bello did it first- Lisa wrote the song

One of her very best! Yet, I can't find this on CD anywhere. Great song, Melissa. I've been missing it ever since vinyl went out.

i have to agree with shyman99. although it's not really ''technically'' a disco song it has it's roots in disco. the very early beegees disco sound of the strings and the BAD GIRLS theme especially at the end. but where i don't agree is that disco was not really dead then. if this had been more ''disco'' it may have been a bigger hit. great song either way

  15. R.... ....

Love it! I own the 45.

  16. b.... ....

Where can I get a copy

  17. G.... ....

    LOVE THIS SONG!!!

There is more than one quote, but the one quote you reference happens to be the Wiki information regarding the LP the song is on. It also explains that the producer of the LP is best known for a disco song that same year. I don't believe Wiki information about 9/11 would reference aliens as the primary theory. Perhaps you could pick up some knowledge from a silly old man. Oh, but you already know it all........

  19. s.... ....

Yep. And with that quote repeated over and over and over again in so many places throughout the Internet, how is it that the obvious somehow escaped you up until you saw my post on YouTube? Apparently your music education is strictly from YouTube posts.

Or your knowledge of music might be lacking. I want you to type the following words into Google and read the articles that return:

Actually I really like this song a lot. Especially her upbeat songs e.g. "You Should Hear How She Talks About You".

  22. J.... F....

I have a live recording of this somewhere. I need to find it upload it. Honestly, it's my least favorite of Melissa's songs...but love just about anything she sings. She's amazing.

  23. o.... ....

    the seventies focuking blew man.

  24. h.... ....

This song pops into my head every now and then. It brings back such great memories of the late 70s.

  25. s.... ....

Ashamed of one of the best songs she ever recorded? That assessment would be a slap in the face to people like myself who danced and received so much joy from this wonderful dance classic. It would have been a bigger hit if not for the fact that disco was no longer being played on radio in late 1979.

  26. k.... ....

great song and even better memories

  27. D.... ....

this song should have been a much bigger hit than #39 IMO, I've just discovered this song earlier today, I've had this song on CD for years but overlooked this song until one day I've decided to add it onto my iPod and while I was listening to my 70s playlist this song was playing and it totally blew me away

  28. D.... W....

Melissa hit #39 in Billboard, 12-1-79. Written by Canada's Lisa Dal Bello. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx! Shalom, Melissa.

First heard this on a DC 10 four-track player years ago. Only problem was that the airline kept periodically making announcements over their head phones, not only interrupting the song, but when the music was allowed to continue, there was a gap of 20-30 seconds of the song that you missed. Nice to hear the whole song, sans gaps.

i like this version but original with lisa dalbello is bettter
