Is the video by any chance from her '63 appearance on the tonight show? I found a footage of her from her '72 appearance where she speaks of being there before 9 years ago wearing a blue dress and feeling awkward because she wasn't allowed to bring her guitar with her. If that's the case could you upload more records from her '63 appearance? Thanks a lot.

Anirban, no the footage is actually from a Brady Bunch Variety Show in '77, during which Melanie sang a short excerpt of this song. It is strange that she's wearing a blue dress, just like the one she spoke of to Johnny Carson in '72. Actually, she got that wrong, it wasn't 10 years before, it was 3 years before, in '69, that she made her first appearance! (Melanie has always found chronology and time frames challenging, like she used to think she was only 18 at Woodstock, but now knows she was 22! Haha) Unfortunately there is no footage of that '69 appearance, or at least none that any of us have been able to uncover.

I spent many summer hours listening to Melanie... she was an welcome part of my youthful days, and I still am entranced by her vocal magic and the magical spell she has cast on my life these many  years!
