John Regan I think my friend saw them in 84. I asked him how it was and he said "Twang!!" . I laughed. He liked it . I guess that was around meat puppets 2 time.

John Regan Jockey Club had great punk bands . It was across the river from here in Cincinnati in Newport, KY. I believe black flag played there.

I always associate Meat Puppets with Butthole Surfers- not sure why, but 2 good bands

@The Blissful ZombieInteresting- I'd never noticed that or considered that it was a "thing". However, for this particular posting of Jason Behnke's, it may actually not be what you suggest. It is a super catchy song. Now, I have a friend and long-time admirer of the Meat Puppets' music, who (to me contrarianly) insists he loves their first album and thinks it's one of their best. Now THAT if I did not know the guy and if I'd seen that posted would come off to me as consistent with that "trollish" phenom you describe. Yet, I think he loves the energy and humor of the puppets screaming unintelligible lyrics amidst a thrash of cacophony which is their guitar, bass and drums accompaniment. Anyway this song, Nothing, has got the nice riff the philosophical title/lyric and some catchy tunage to recommend it. So, I can see that it would be someone's favorite Meat Puppets song, even if it's not quite mine.

Musicians back then made their money by doing tours, which you can't pirate. Royalties made by selling records were a little extra pocket money on the side in comparison, and most people got boot-legged music anyway back then. The multibillion dollar music industry doesn't need a single cent of my money.

It's my favorite Album of theirs. It's really the only one. I listen to.. I like the others but I get too used to albums. This isnt one of them.
