Meat Loaf - Why Isn't That Enough? Lyrics

I don't know how I can do this
What am I supposed to say?
You have been my dream for so long
Now that dream is slipping away
I don't want to let you go
It's only that I know I must
I can't hardly get the words out
Baby is this the end of us?

You know that I want you
You know that I need you baby
You know that I love you
So why isn't that enough?

I've been sleeping in the daytime
I've been weeping at the scene
Wishing you would haunt me
And you would tell me this was all a dream

Wishing you were here beside me
What I would give to hold you tight
But nothing I can do or say
Will change the truth tonight

You know that I want you
You know that I need you baby
You know that I love you
So why isn't that enough?

If I want you
And I need you
And I love you
And I want that to be enough

Yes I want you
And I need you
And I love you
And I want that to be enough

Yes I want you
And I need you
And I love you
And I want that to be enough

I don't want to let you go
It's only that I know I must
I can't hardly get the words out
Baby is this the end of us?

You know that I want you
You know that I need you baby
You know that I love you
So why isn't that enough?
Why isn't that enough?
I wish it was enough

Read 'Em & Weep will always be my favorite of all time....such a powerful & packed with Emotion voice...I wish I could meet Meatloaf just so I could shake his hand & tell him thank you for all the great music...The man truly is and forever will be an ICON...I'm so BLESSED that I grew up in the 70's so I could rock out with his power ballads and get lucky with his love songs...Thank You MEATLOAF..THANK YOU....YOUR FAN...JEFFREY W COMLEY...MUCH RESPECT TO YOU SIR.

I hope people realise that once meat retires there will never be music like this ever again, we the people from the seventies  were truly blessed. Just think about it there will be no legends left.30 years plus bands don't exist anymore, very sad but true.Thank you big guy.

I remember listening to this album back in 2006 while riding the subway to work. This song left me breathless that I missed my stop by two stations...

I Couldn't have said it better myself

It wasn't his greatest album but overall I thought it wasn't too bad. Another Day, Fall From Grace, and All of Me were pretty good. I enjoyed California Dreamin'. Sure, his voice isn't where it was 30 years ago and he doesn't have Jim Steinman writing hits for him but I enjoyed the album.

  12. M.... ....

Hell in a Handbasket was a great disappointment, for me personally. Not one of his best. What did you think about it?

    M.... ....

Marylost12 hated it. his last album I loved was bat out of hell 3 :) that was perfection imo. as were couldn't have said it better, welcome to the neighborhood and the first two bats

    M.... ....

Marylost12 I also hate his new cd lol braver than we are. I love Meat. I met him like 5 times. the voice is gone :(

  23. F.... ....

@sineadc1973 I know. I remember after loving Bat Out Of Hell for years, I noticed my dad had all Meat's other albums that I'd never known about. When I listened to them all I had that same feeling. Since Bat 3, I've been buying his albums on the day they come out, and I'm planning on doing the same thing for Hell In A Handbasket.

  24. S.... C....
