Meat Loaf - Amnesty Is Granted Lyrics

Love's an hourglass
It goes out wide the comes in closer
Time ticks away
Drifts away leaving empty sanded shoulders
Who said that love could last forever
Oh, I'm growing tired of feeling like I do

As we drift apart
Little secrets come between us
As we sail away
Feelin' comfort in the distance
You said that love would forever
Oh but neither one of us will ever surrender

There's a time
There's a place
A change of heart
About face
This is about love
It's about forgiveness

Tell me now, tell me like it is
You don't have to give
Amnesty is granted
What's done is done, for everyone
Come on bay let's start again right now
Amnesty is granted

You said that love would last forever
But neither one of us will ever surrender

There's a time
There's a place
A change of heart
About face
This is about love
It's about forgiveness

Tell me now, tell me like it is
You don't have to give
Amnesty is granted
What's done is done, for everyone
Come on bay let's start again right now
Amnesty, amnesty, amnesty is granted

    Killer track

The thing about this song is, it retains almost every bit of Van Halen-ness. I could imagine, with different production this replacing Feels So Good on OU812 or coming after Top of The World on F.U.C.K. Meat does great with it. If he were about 20 years younger, he'd have killed it. It's right up the BOOH alley. Could only imagine what Eddie would have done with that solo spot though.

111 VIEWS....??  In TWO A HALF YEARS...??  You've got be ******* joking ..!!

I just can't believe that Van Halen, Maiden, AC/DC, Bon Jovi and a dozen others haven't cleared the rights and recorded this in all these years. This is a total killer track, with a drum and bassline which makes the hair on my neck stand up with sheer joy.! Meat's fabulous voice is the definitive one here, but I'd love to hear a load of others too. Dio singing this would have been the right and proper end of the world.

This needs a volume knob of One to Ten - followed by an Eleven.

And those millions of you out there not listening to this all ought to be bloody-well horsewhipped.

its a sammy hagar song which he is doing a duet with meat here. sammy wrote this long after he was gone from van halen. and sammy has a solo version of this song on his marching to mars album.

@Robert Weber It's actually a Hagar era Van Halen tune written around the recording of Balance. They didn't use it, so Sammy sent it to Meat. Meat was first to record it, so this is the definitive version, save a demo that Van Halen recorded, but hasn't surfaced. Sammy recorded an acoustic version on Marching To Mars in 1997. It's about Sammy's divorce from his ex-wife, and being with his current wife.

@John Bonham Sammy occasionally played this for his acoustic number during VH shows. He relates a story in ''Red'' how Eddie started changing tubes in his amp behind him during this song. He wrote it when his wife told him he was free to have other girls...and even bring one home.
