I shall forever dream of a rem-master of this song. It’s production is so small and cramped. I will forever yearn for the day that somebody cuts this into 5.1 dynamic surround. Her voice deserves nothing less.

I remember discovering this in a cassette been in the early 80s, long before Sarah exploded. I wore the cassette out back when you can do those sort of things. Every song on this album is gold.

Sarah said this album (her first album)'s lyrics were just "pretty sounding words." While I don't disagree, and while I love her more "substantial" records more, part of me wishes she had done one more like Touch. There's really nothing else like it in her catalog.

TurboCMinusMinus unfortunately, sarah has a tendency to put herself down. pretty sounding words are an important facor in the aesthetic she managed to build and bring to the pop/adult contemporary scene, wich lacks more cryptic lyrics

She probably does that. But I think she meant more that she felt she was too young and didn't have enough meaningful to say. I just think the vibe and sound of Touch is really unique and I wish it had a companion, even though Solace might be my favorite Sarah album.

How many hit records did this woman have? Too many! Some people these days would be glad to have half her talent and effortless beauty and I'm just talking about her lyrics and voice!

Someone these days with her talent most likely couldn't even get into the cancerous autotuning shitfest that is the modern music industry. And if they did (they were hot enough and connected enough) they'd likely be forced to put out shit music to conform and be marketed. How depressing is that. (... Puts on another 90s album)

You are correct, sir! For the interested I recommend Jesca Hoop. A wonderful artist who has managed to fight her way to a Sub Pop contract (yep, that far) after 17 years of blood, toil, tears and sweat, but no compromise. No sir, none of that. Search for Money, The Kingdom, Tulip, and (new) The Lost Sky for starters.

+Scott Macleod I agree, and if you ahven't yet heard Kate Bush....sample Wuthering Heights and Running Up That Hill, and The Dreaming and a few others...her voice is impossible to emulate. No one can touch her as far as vocals go...it is an extremely rare ( I have yet to see one) a person who can do a cover of Kate Bush.

Try Eivor's version of Hounds of Love.. It is so good I feel it even surpasses the original as she injects her brand of uniqueness into the reinterpretation to do it more than justice. The building crescendo near the end is just captivating and beautiful. Her other work especially her recent albums is even more challenging and cutting edge than Kate but I see it as a natural progression. I always loved Kate for her originality, and now Eivor is carrying the torch even further.

The thought that she was what, 19 or 20 when she wrote and recorded this song s what gets me now. I don't know of anyone that age currently doing anything this groundbreaking. (I would love to be wrong though, suggestions happily accepted). It still boggles the brain that it took so long for any of her songs to be released in the US. She's just brilliant and seems like a genuinely nice person, which is always good to find out

It was a  golden age for young independent Canadian acts. Some went on to the US, some didn't.   

+Sarah Okc She left Halifax on her own as a teenager to start her career on the west coast. Just incredible..and must have incredible parents

She was raised with music and learning how to play and compose... But her singing style comes Joni Mitchell, Jane Siberry to mention only the Canadians, but many women invented new ways of singing and Sarah is a branch of the 70s and 80s.... She was very shy at the VOX concert, 19, Sinead O'Conner came out at the same time at 21...

Im probably a bit biased since I just watched an 80s movie marathon, but this has all the hallmarks of a song you'd hear while the credits were rolling to a coming of age 80s movie.

such a majestic, graceful music video that compliments an already beautiful song. It evokes strong emotion and lets it flow through Sarah's guitar. This reminds me a lot of the music video for Amarantine by Enya which also takes place in a fantasy land and allows your mind to glide through it with Enya.

@secondskin08 I don't completely agree. There are still female musicians that still have lyrics that move. Not all music is fucking boring. You just need to do some effort to find it.
