McClinton, Delbert - Lucky Boy (Your Ramblin' Days Are Through) Lyrics
Lucky Boy, kept a secret rendezvous
Whoa, he didn't know
Where all them hot kisses might lead him to
Yeah, but Sweet Suzie, she knew, yeah
Lucky Boy's ramblin' days are though.
Now and then he remembers when
There was just him to do all the thinkin'
Whoa, but he found a four leaf clover
And Lucky Boy's ramblin' day are over.
Yeah, but he don't mind, deep down inside
That boy's really laughin'
He said just one touch o' my baby's love is
Worth five thousand miles o' good travelin'
Whoa, and he found a four leaf clover
Yeah, but he didn't mind
Deep down inside that boy's really laughin'
He said just one touch o' my baby's love is
Worth five thousand miles o' good travelin'
Yeah, and Sweet Suzie she knew, yeah
And Lucky Boy's ramblin' days ar though
Oh Lucky Boy's ramblin' days are though
Lucky Boy's ramblin' days are through.

McClinton, Delbert Lucky Boy (Your Ramblin' Days Are Through) Comments
That super distinctive voice sure does fit certain types of songs... and this is definitely one of those. Pow!
He's so cool & smooth Delbert Rocks !!!!
Hell yeah!!
Oh I can say is if you don't like Delbert McClinton you have not an inkling of class so take a hike
joynthis , u got it
Best I've heard in this genre. Could listen to this stuff all day!
These guys are amazing
southern frat house music at its best?
Back when music was GREAT...and Austin City Limits was good..horrible today..
He can sing the soul out of Detroit.
I had an autograph ticket from a show in Little Rock Arkansas about 20 years ago. Girlfriend gone so is the ticket. He sat at the bar with us. Nice guy.
Saw him in Houston in '93 and '95 and maybe '98 or so. He sweated like a Pentecostal Preacher (that's a compliment). If you can see Delbert live, see him. (I'm not sure how his voice has held up, though. It's like Opera sopranos in their '60s. But the live show is a hoot.)
god i wish i could have seen this guy in his prime.
Delbert is the King down in
Austin 🎵
WHY ME -LIVE absolute favourite,,,,, knocked out,,,, check it out!!
JEEZ,, any one out there,???? maybe like myself, knew nothing about DmcC until I seen Martina McBrides version of 2 BOTTLES OF WINE.What a fantastic singer,,, just when I think I know whats comin' in a song I get kicked , such a unique approach to C&W and rock. This song on its own is just like,,,, bob sieger,, Bruce, ( you know who ) the Rolling Stones,, So many but still sooooo unique,, absolutelt fantastic,
Mr. Don Imus turned me on to this guy years and years ago. Thank you Don.
...which is why I am listening to Delbert tonight, having just learned of the I-man's passing. 30 years of listening to Delbert rock and what a treat to listen to him as bumper music when Imus was on air.
@karl hardesty . I miss Imus. He was good entertainment.
Such an awesome song!!
He rock and rolls his back side off! Great stuff!
Phil and Brent on kmod Tulsa radio got me started on Delbert back in the day been following him every since!!!
bob seger old time rocken roll ;)
Ageless Texas talent...another Ft Worth boy...as was Roy Orbison...my two favorite songwriter/singers!
ONE BAD ASS CAT!🐹
If this song don't make you Feel Good. You need a checkup from the neckup
Love this one and of course "two More Bottles of Wine" which I heard first recorded by Emmylou. Delbert flat out IS blues!!!
Yup that's the song
Kid memroies
wow wow, double wow, thriple wow !!!
All praise the king of blue-eyed soul! Delbert has never gotten the recognition that he deserves.
27 years later ... the song still kicks ass
What's the name of the guitarist with the telecaster?
Neighbours have had strated to like these siongs because I got my Telcaster and my Fender amp, and I am not shy to use them daily loud!!!! ;)
Delbert is Rock and Roll Hall of Fame material to me. Name me another front man that can hold a candle to him.
The thumbs downs all have dainbrammage.¡¡!!!¿¿??
136 dislikes? They must be folks who don't know what real what real music and real singing actually is. It seems a safe bet they are huge fans of all the garbage that passes for today's music....all the rap crap and motherfucker this, motherfucker that and glorification of rape and murder.
I saw him live in concert in up-state NY back in the mid 90's and this guy is the real thing. A real rocker.
@girlyman514 one of the good things about being an old cosmic cowboy is being there when "Victim of Life's Circumstances" album came out. Delbert worked Louisville regular playing Butchertown pub 300 seat bars. Saw him one night in the early 80s play a Bardstown Rd joint with maybe 75 people. Saw him play Soap Creek in Austin mid 70s in a wall to wall sweaty crowd in a show that I'll never forget. Hard to pick one song but this is about as good as rock n roll can get. When it's a melancholy mood "Dreams to Remember" brings on a flood of memories. For those new check out a duet of Delbert and Tanya Tucker singing "Got to find a good woman/man" Tanya does one hell of a job on Bonnie Raitt's part and there is genuine chemistry. Sexy as hell.
Coyote Calhoun was a Louisville WAKY screaming rock dj but he was a hard core country fan at heart and made his way to WAMZ fm and really made that station pop. He was my buddy and gave me a promo wallet for Delbert's "Genuine Cowhide" lp and it had the imprint of a rubber on it. Edgey for 1977.
Doesn't really matter but in the interest of accuracy let me correct the above post. The Delbert/Tanya duet is "Tell Me About It". What can I say - I'm old
Bad ass Texas son and this great state has produced some heavies
Anyone know who the lead guitarist is?
Rich Kurtz.
Superb is the only word for this guy !!!
Been around a few years now and is STILL one of the very best of his kind. Hardly heard of in Britain where he'd have been on par with Rod Stewart if he's had the same exposure.
Amazing
Very good rocker Delbert mcclinton.
He smoked the hell out of it. What about the guitar player. Damn hose the stage off.
A real toe tapper
I want to add that Michael Lee is my favorite from the first time he sang in the blinds of the voice, and he continues to impress me, very talented young man I bet he wins.
I just came to hear the original after hearing Michael Lee do the cover, they both did good.
they will look for it soon
Big performance
ROCK AND ROOOOOOOLLLL!!!!!!!!!!
There's good, there's great, then there's Delbert...
Damn - he is so goooood :)
RIP Delbert
Damn I wish someone has a recording or even a video of Delbert and Joe Ely LIVE at a club called The Rox in Lubbock TX, back in the late 70's.
Just saw Delbert last Saturday night. Yes....he's 77 and all the players have switched out and changed and he is still killing it! Great show! The last song of the last encore was Every Time I Roll the Dice - My girl and I lost it! We were Rockin! Delbert still got it!
But damn what good!
Just keeps on gettin' better!!!!
This song just needs some cowbell!
GEEZE!!!!!!
Wow this guy rocks
One of the all best Austin City Limits performances----there is a live album available too---or was at one time.
American Royalty
Never heard this guy before, but what a voice up there with the Tom Jones And all
This guy can rock.
Yes, Delbert is great, and when you hear this tune with his band, it's just awesome R'n R!!!
What about him & Lee Roy Parnell? Now that's what I call music! I guess to each their own.
What's wrong with his voice? Does he have a cold? The band is playing wayyyy too loud.
clifford yawn
Clifford you are an idiot no he does not have a cold it's just his voice has its own uniqueness as for the band sounds just great. Get with it
I'm thinking that is the great Le Roy Parnell playing slide!
Nagy zene ........egyszerűen remek
No matter your taste in music, this is what the good stuff sounds like
Looking forward to seeing Delbert in Wilson, NC on March 23rd.
live music at its best
Sing it Delbert ,love your music
Killing it in 1992! A masterpiece
Delbert is a must see! One BAD ASS PERFORMER!
J.R."s Restaurant and Lounge in Tupelo MS on a Saturday night, you would hear this song. It gave me Happy Feet. Come on Baby let's dance !
Mike Duke(Wet Willie) on Keyboard and Vocals
That's definitely Rick Kurtz wearing the hat on guitar...he played in one of my bands and on several of my recordings. The other guitarist is Stephen Bruton (RIP) who I worked with on the set of Crazy Heart. It is definitely Rick Kurtz and not Leroy Parnell playing slide.
BigMike on Keys...who was the drummer in that era?
Saw you at the Music Hall when I lived in ATL. What a
Showman and local legend.
77 today!!!!
Without a doubt, this is one of the greatest rock n roll bands/performances ever.
Only unsatisfying thing about this video is that it didnt last longer
He was in concert this past Friday the 13th..in Bristol, tenn.....he's really good.
Anybody know if this is available on DVD?
great performance ! what a growl in his voice ! one of the best !
Delbert played at Butchertown Pub In Louisville, KY several times a year back in the the early 1980s, it was incredible. Very charismatic & was in no hurry to get off the stage. Hard to hard explain. The bar sales went through the roof everytime he played. 2 night venues as well. Wow!
Who is playing bass, with the red beret on...
NOW THIS IS ROCK & ROLL !!
It doesn't look like he gets respect from his guitar players.
que c'est bon !!!!!!
Shit kicking music....if u cant tap your toe to this..you dead..
He's got more soul than most?!!
Delbert rocks. esp. b boxcar blues
Delbert rocks! Love his stuff.
loved going to WORK PLAY in Bham to see him. up close and personal. loved it
Back when Austin was real.
Nashville these days, isn't any better!
Damn, dontcha know it...good while it last - crap now.
I simply love Delbert McClinton. I have listened to his music for what seems like for ever. I never grow tired of his songs and all the sweet memories that flood my mind and heart while Im jammin with Delbert . You know you rock dude. always have and always will
Delbert has the best live shows ever ..great in bar venues ....watching white folks trying to dance to Delbert's music was and is a trip.....people seem to think I am white ..actually French/Spanish Creole ....love me some Delbert
Saw him do this at Skipper's Smokehouse.
I can hear the Stones playing this.
Dunlap Music it's the open G tuning and the tele. Gotta love it!
I saw him a few times at the Lone Star Cafe in NY back in the 80's, always loved him!
Stones rip off sound
Beverley Shepley That's only because it's played in Open G tuning like a lot of Stones songs are.
