McCartney, Paul - The Back Seat Of My Car Lyrics

Speed along the highway,
Honey, i want it my way.
But listen to her daddy's song,
Don't stay out too long.
Oo, we're just busy hiding,
Sitting in the back seat of my car.

Looking for a ride and all about,
Looking for a ride in and out of town,
Strolling around and all about,
Looking for a ride in and out of...

The laser lights are pretty,
We may end up in mexico city.
But listen to her daddy's song,
Making love is wrong.
Oo, we're just busy riding,
Sitting in the back seat of my car.

Oh,oh,....
Pah-pah-pah-pah-pah-pah,
Pah-pah-pah-pah-pah-pah-pah.
For we was only hiding,
Sitting in the back seat of my car.

Yeah, .

And when we finished driving,
We can say we were late in arriving.
And listen to her daddy's song,
We believe that we can't be wrong, yeah!

Oh-oh, we believe that we can't be wrong,
Oh-oh, we believe that we can't be wrong,
We can make it to mexico city,
Sitting in the back seat of my car.
Oh,oh,...

Oh-oh, we believe that we can't be wrong,
Oh-oh, we believe that we can't be wrong,
Oh-oh, we believe that we can't be wrong,
Oh-oh, we believe that we can't be wrong,
Oh-oh, we believe that we can't be wrong,
Oh-oh, we believe that we can't be wrong,
No, no, no, ...
We believe we can't be wrong,
Yeah! yeah! yeah!
Oh-oh, oh-oh, yeah, oh, yeah.

McCartney, Paul The Back Seat Of My Car Comments
  1. I.... 4....

I used to play this over and over... its perfect... WE BELIEVE THAT WE CANT BE WRONG!

  2. p.... ....

    F ing genius

  3. I.... r....

Seems like there is a great song here. But it needs the input of John, George, Ringo, and George Martin to rein it in and tighten it up.

    I.... r....

Nah, doesn't need anything, least of all reined in. Makes me think of a kid playing in the garden, just having fun fooling around with everything in his orbit.

  4. J.... F....

Band On The Run is an amazing album, and this is it's equal!

  5. e.... r....

Amazing Song Thank You Paul For Give Us Great Music

  6. L.... C....

Decades after hearing this song...its not bad at all. Paul McCartney has written many songs that deserve to be "covered" by other musicians/bands.

  7. H.... M....

It sound like the beach boys pets sound or simlie or any album of the late 60s.

  8. B.... K....

I'm in shock! ! Lifelong Beatles fan and hearing this brilliance for the first time 2019. Why was this album panned. Seen macca live twice, still in shock.

  9. J.... ....

God I love this song so much. <3 "We believe that we can't be wrong"

  10. C.... H....

Música legal de Sr PAUL McCartney ok galera

  11. E.... o....

I see this song was Ramastered in 2012.... I'm sorry

    E.... o....

You seem to be rather sheepish...

  12. T.... H....

I think it's interesting to mention that on the parts "listen to her daddy's song", he recorded himself and slowed it down for the lower harmony, which can be heard to the left. It's easy to notice he slowed it down, because there's some slow-down effects on it in general.

  13. b.... ....

always loved this song.. but remasters always lose some of the original magic for me.. i prefer the original.

  14. V.... ....

Completely meaningless and boring song over-produced to give it "Beatles" flair. I hated this song when I first heard it. But after all this time it does become more enjoyable. Just approach it with no expectations.

    V.... ....

I loved this song my first time hearing it except the part around 2:30 its just bizzare

    V.... ....

So you think its boring, meaningless, over produced, but enjoyable? Could you make up your mind please?

    V.... ....

"Just approach it with no expectations" I did. I heard this song on a playlist I found on Spotify and I found it incredibly beautiful. To each his own, i guess.

  15. G.... C....

In my humble opinion, Macca should have ended this masterful album at "Ram On (reprise)", omitting "The Back Seat of My Car'. Though a fine song, I feel "Back Seat' should have been preserved, re-worked a couple times, and as a stand-alone single ala "Junior's Farm" or even a powerful b-side to an even stronger a-side in the fashion of his former band. By omitting "Back Seat" the romantic sentiment in songs such as "Long Haired Lady" cones across with greater urgency and a certain kind of fragility only a master tunesmith like Macca can convey--but too much of a fine thing is more often ruinous than an improvement. The extra 4:30 minutes of LP and the time dedicated to rehearsing, recording, editing, and mastering "Back Seat" could have been used on the other 11 songs, allowing a greater time allotment to "Ram On" & "Ram On (reprise)" and just that more focus on the others...just saying...
...but still a damn fine tune...

  16. C.... K....

Is this the sequel to drive my car?

    C.... K....

No it was the prequel to Helen Wheels, which was about his Landrover.

    C.... K....

then lonely road is a sequel to the long winding road?

  17. F.... J....

I agree with the fellow commentator, this song is definitely influenced by Brian Wilson's prime work.
This is a gift to my ears.

I just love both Macca's and Brian's falsetto ranges.

  18. B.... S....

No one sang played and composed better

    B.... S....

He's still alive. He's still great. Egypt Station is like "Ram 2018."

  19. O.... M....

Although I'm too young (I like the way that sounds) to remember Ram's release, the several reviews of it from that time which I've read seem unduly harsh. It is a solid album; melodic, harmonic (like this song), exotic, and showcases Linda's beautiful voice. I don't know what some people expect from a man who has done so very much right that he's not allowed to occasionally be cut some slack if he's not perfect enough for his ever-growing legacy. I'd like to see anyone today come even close to McC's talent, appeal, and charitable, optimistic spirit.

    O.... M....

    Man you said it all😂😁

    O.... M....

I agree. I read somewhere that one review read "it's like watching a man juggle three guitars - it's really neat, but why bother?" Uh, why NOT bother? He can do it, and he can do it very well. People were just bitter the Beatles split up, and they were all so gaga about Lennon and his political garbage they forgot that music could just be fun and catchy without reason.
Lots of people were also pissy that Paul had the audacity to say that Linda helped him with his music.

    O.... M....

It's his best album, a total masterpiece. Up there with Abbey Road, John Lennon & Plastic Ono Band. So many great and joyful songs. The contemporary reviews were hopelessly wrong.

  20. M.... ....

Happy belated birthday, Sir Paul. Love You Always!!!!!!!!!

  21. A.... M....

Muita saudade do tempo em 2007 que eu ouvi essa música the back seat of my car na escola enfantil. Like

  22. E.... L....

This seriously sounds like it could've been written by Brian Wilson and performed by the Beach Boys. I feel there must've been some influence here...

    E.... L....

    who influenced who?
lets just soak up the heavenly vibes from the 60's and 70's.
We'll never approach this standard ever again. The creativity back then was astonishing when compared to the utter computerised shit on offer today.

    E.... L....

Definitely the song was born, as Paul himself says in-between song here, as a "Beach Boys spin-off"

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rC_Z1BIktHQ

This recording was made during the Get Back sessions in January 1969. You can definitely tell b the way Paul pronounces the word "Car" that he's doing a Brian Wilson impression. Also the falsetto is there

    E.... L....

@Gibson DelGiudice hey where can i find this mash up you're talking about ? I'd like to hear it. Thx !

    E.... L....

I always wonder what a McCartney/Wilson collaboration would have sounded like circa 1970-71.

    E.... L....

Sounds more as an early Queen track to me.

  23. g.... a....

love this masterpierce. love this album. love this man James Paul McCartney.

Una de las mejores (sino es que la mejor) canciones del álbum, con asombrosos coros vocales, definitivamente este álbum merece más reconocimiento, esta al nivel de otros grandes como band on The run o flowers in The dirt
