McCartney, Paul - Take It Away Lyrics

Take It Away
Wanna Hear You Play 'Til The Lights Go Down
Take It Away
Don't You Wanna Stay 'Til There's No One Else Around
Lonely Driver
Out On The Road
With A Hundred Miles To Go
Sole Survivor
Carrying The Load
Switches On His Radio
Take It Away
Wanna Hear You Play 'Til The Lights Go Down (Down, Down)
Take It Away
Don't You Wanna Stay 'Til There's No One Else Around
Take It Away
Wanna Hear You Play 'Til The Lights Go Down
Take It Away
Don't You Wanna Stay 'Til There's No One Else Around
In The Audience
Watching The Show
With A Paper In His Hand (In His Hand, In His Hand)
Some Important
Impresario
Has A Message For The Band
Take It Away
Wanna Hear You Play 'Til The Lights Go Down (Down, Down)
Take It Away
Don't You Wanna Stay 'Til There's No One Else Around
Never That His
Baby Listening To Your
Never That His
Baby Listening To Your
Never That His
Baby Listening To Your
Take It Away
Take It Away
After Hours
Late In The Bar
By A Darkened Corner Seat
Faded Flowers
Wade In The Jar
'Til The Evening Is Complete

McCartney, Paul Take It Away Comments
  1. r.... 1....

Came here to see Eric, lol!

  2. D.... ....

Paul proves one again that not only is he an incredible song writer, he knows damn well what sounds perfect. Thick and dry drums, fat bass, and those velvety harmonies sounded PERFECT on AM radio. I've such fond memories of hearing this for the first time on a crummy transistor radio, and it sounded so good.

  3. R.... B....

Heard this today at my chiropractor's office. Picked up on it immediately. Said " I know that song from years ago!" Now on my phone and, I have listened to it at least 20 times. Love the back singing and, most of all the ending. So much energy in that ending. Love this tune!

  4. M.... L....

Song is such a time stamp. Summer 1982. One of the best songs on the radio.

  5. M.... P....

Always loved this, great memories. 😎

  6. C.... G....

Just heard this song for the first time in a very long time... actually forgot about it... glad it was on in a store when I walked in to remind me of it... now of course, I'm on YouTube listening! Great stuff!!!

  7. R.... O....

    Starkey is such a tosser

  8. C.... L....

This🎥 film is a classic on their own right👍🎹🎷🎸🎺🎻🎼🎶

  9. G.... N....

Number 500! Classic Paul with Linda and Ringo! Great song from a massive catalog!

  10. S.... B....

I am grateful to Sir Paul Mccartney, Sir Ray Davies and all the other great musicians for enriching my life with wonderful music.

I love this song. If I live to be 100 l will still be playing it. They can cremate me with my mobile phone playing 'Take it Away'!

  11. E.... B....

Love tHis,one of my favorites fRom that era.

  12. K.... H....

A fantastic song. Love Ringo joining Paul for this song.

  13. h.... ....

This is a great song. Really love how the brass section dominates. High energy, just love it over and over again.

  14. D.... N....

Omg bought this album in 82 60 now and addicted to McCartney base lines, the best that ever was ever will be fuckin freak of nature

  15. m.... ....

Linda's bacing vocals were highly underrated, a beautiful voice

  16. J.... S....

I like the cool, hip reggae beat on this. He had jive beat on this and several of his hits not just through this period but other times in his solo work. Macca late seventies and early eighties had the cool jive beat.

  17. j.... ....

I like the Jag that John Hurt is driving at 0:54.

  18. v.... ....

I remember this got a lot of air play when it came out. I was a young kid. This song was kind of lost in the McCartney catalog. Real good and under-rated song.

  19. R.... S....

Just simply love this song & John Hurt is just pure class in this video...been trying to buy that shirt & tie ever since...just looks fabulous xxx

  20. S.... B....

    Jolly good song

  21. P.... M....

    He looks so young

  22. T.... C....

    2019
during the 80s, Macca can do whatever the f*** he wants...
he could do the ballet for all he wants...that's what legends are...
nothing to prove...no mountains left to climb...Macca evermore...

  23. J.... S....

Macca has his great background instrumental jive in this period of his music, great tight jive.

  24. c.... ....

Something makes me get a little chocked up when he says "sole survivor."

    c.... ....

    That'll be Ringo.

  25. J.... A....

    Take it away
    Want to hear you play
    Till the lights go down
    Take it away
    Don't you want to stay
Till there's no one else around?
    Take it away
    Want to hear you play
    Till the lights go down
    Take it away
    Don't you want to stay
Till there's no one else around?
    Lonely driver
    Out on the road
With a hundred miles to go
    Sole survivor
    Carrying the load
    Switches on his radio
    Take it away
    Want to hear you play
Till the lights go down (down down)
    Take it away
    Don't you want to stay
Till there's no one else around?
    Take it away
    Want to hear you play
Till the lights go down (down down)
    Take it away
    Don't you want to stay
Till there's no one else around?
    In the audience
    Watching the show
With a paper in his hand
(In his hand, in his hand)
    Some important impresario
Has a message for the band
    Oh
    Take it away
    Want to hear you play
Till the lights go down (down down)
    Take it away
    Don't you want to stay
Till there's no one else around?
You never know who may be
    Listening to you
    Never know who may be
    Listening to you
You never know who may be
    Listening to you
Take it away, take it away
    After hours
    Late in the bar
    By a darkened corner seat
Faded flowers wait in the jar
    Till the evening is complete
    Ah
    Ah
    Ah
    Ah

  26. R.... S....

Bad song and a bad video to go along with it

  27. R.... S....

why is there always two drummers every time I see Ringo ,he is always playing along with another drummer like he doesn't really play the drum.. and this is a video playing along with a record, why couldn't he just play alone

  28. C.... S....

What happened to Ringo's eye? 01:41

  29. M.... w....

John would have joined them but he had 4 bullets in him....the Amerikan way.

  30. t.... l....

Sir Paul The " MASTER OF MELODY " .......

  31. s.... w....

This song sound like it's describing the story of the night when Brian Epstein met the Beatles at the Cavern Club in Liverpool, England in 1961, and they agreed that he would manage them from then on.

  32. C.... A....

background vocal arrangements alone could set this song apart from just being good...this song is great in the sum total of all it pieces...tom a.

  33. G.... O....

Paul really is a wicked bass player!

  34. J.... S....

Paul and ringo get into jazz vocal and jive type beat. By this stage, ringo looks like a cool aging jazz singer, Paul wears hair style of youth, UKTRA COOL.

  35. l.... c....

Great song, Great Video, and production, just draws you in, like most things Paul does.

  36. A.... B....

my #1 song of Paul's...thank you Paul...you are amazing.

  37. s.... ....

I love the “Aahhh”s in this song... very reminiscent of that Wings sound in the mid seventies. This was a big during my high school days.

    s.... ....

sentino68 that Aaaah really gets me to remember Because from the Beatles

    s.... ....

Also very reminiscent of 10CC by some remarkable chance :)

  38. P.... T....

    This is Awesome!!!!

  39. P.... T....

    Sax,wings, Awesome!

  40. B.... ....

Tug Of War is Macca's best album by far.

  41. J.... L....

My God, there are so many great songs from Sir Paul and Wings. This is just another example of the genius of McCartney. The arrangement of this song is mindboggling. It's like two songs put together. And it works.

  42. a.... c....

    pmc t 82 😍

  43. M.... w....

George Martin's worth at death was $400 million....yes, he was the fifth Beatle!

  44. C.... B....

What an amazing talent: He manages to play 3 different basses in the same song! BTW, this is the prettiest I've ever seen Linda. And, while it's cool to see Ringo, it's even cooler to see George Martin on keyboards.

  45. t.... f....

Love it when George (Martin) starts banging it out on the piano.

  46. P.... T....

Love the Horns!!! R.I P. Linda!

  47. A.... K....

    Happy happy memories ✌✌

  48. u.... G....

    Un dios cantando🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

  49. J.... L....

Nothing like Sir Paul. The master.

  50. S.... S....

Sir Paul e Ringo star the best on the best

  51. K.... T....

    Beautiful song and beautiful man

  52. B.... G....

Paul McCartneys music=Christmas Eve as a seven year old! Wonderful and nostalgic

  53. B.... G....

Love when he looks back at George Martin

  54. A.... ....

Brings a tear to my eye remembering when this one was on MTV.

  55. O.... B....

It's easy to notice that Ringo is the drummer in this album ; very few drummers play for the singers ...and those fills like in take it away

  56. S.... P....

love they way it starts off in the living room great song and ringo on the drums!!

  57. R.... K....

Great Song from one of his better albums.

  58. A.... R....

Half of The Beatles in 2:24.

  59. R.... G....

John Hurt RIP Elephant man, Alien's first víctim chest explodes, Midnight Express víctim, a great actor

  60. D.... M....

That Linda McCartney was beautiful. A heart stopper.

  61. p.... p....

macartney is a big failure without lennon

  62. c.... ....

C'mon people, this song sucks. Hold Paul to a higher standard. I was around when this was released. Believe me, everyone thought this was substandard. It still is.

  63. S.... J....

Second drummer at beginning of video looks like drummer from Paul Simon/Art Garfunkel video of "late in the evening" live in Central Park, NY.

    S.... J....

That is Steve Gadd in both.

  64. s.... ....

    Paul's last great songi

  65. T.... R....

As catchy today as it was....omg, I am old!

  66. D.... ....

The War Doctor’s mission on Earth in the early years of the Time War. To protect Paul McCartney’s solo career from the Daleks...

  67. R.... M....

I remember hearing this in the summer of '82. I loved it. I was 14.

  68. d.... m....

Ringos drum work so intuitive.....still dont know why you need two drummers

  69. P.... ....

Tug of war: best McCartney album ;)

  70. d.... s....

    Catchy tune

  71. E.... G....

Its November 2018. I'm going thru very rough time and Paul McCartney is here to cheer me up!!! :)

  72. G.... G....

hi great song from 1982 I love it thank you sounds super

  73. b.... ....

Rock on Paul for Ringo one time too!

  74. b.... ....

Take it away Ringo one time for Paul!

  75. M.... S....

Seems like Linda was really good for Paul.

  76. t.... r....

playing this on a 45 over and over, and not just because I’m too lazy to turn it over

  77. r.... c....

Went to college in the States from Zimbabwe (talk about culture shock!). This was in the charts when I arrived. The horn section at the end is hauntingly nostalgic when I listen to it now.

    r.... c....

Yeah that brassy ending is so great wish that bit was longer

    r.... c....

The brass was a good touch to the ending. I didn't know this was from 1982. Chicago's "Hard to say I'm Sorry" is the song I remember most from 1982 and Toto's "Africa".

  78. S.... W....

    ❤😚❤❤

  84. B.... N....

Thanks for posting!! Excellence that is typical of PM. Quite the lineup here as well, with: Ringo, George, Eric, Steve, Linda, and John. Love the backing vocals! RIP: Linda, George, and John.

  85. A.... M....

Love this song and I love this video. Back when MTV actually played videos and back when there were real sings, musicians and talent.

  86. G.... W....

Steve Gadd giving Ringo a drumming lesson.

  87. G.... ....

Loved the chorus. Rest of the song was slow

  88. G.... ....

They got John Hurt to appear in it.. Awesome

  89. J.... M....

    I love ❤️ this song

  90. K.... B....

Great. Linda became part of 'Wings' signature sound. Her backing vocals are always so good.

  91. J.... G....

This video was on MTV a bunch of times in the 80s

  92. f.... ....

I love how Paul McCartney has always maintained relevancy across nearly six decades. Always contemporary yet never compromising. God bless you sir Paul. The world would be a sadder place without you

  93. m.... h....

    listened to this countless times......countless!

  94. m.... h....

  96. M.... S....

    crack cocaine of music

  97. S.... S....

I love this song but at the same time I don't like it very much because Paul kind of created Musazack with his own music in the late 70s and the early 1980s

  98. S.... S....

I love this song too just like you the love it
