McCartney, Paul - From A Lover To A Friend Lyrics
And when the time comes around
We will be duty bound
To tell the through of what we've seen
And what we haven't found
Will not be going down
From a lover to a friend
Take your own advice
Let me love again
Now that you turned out to be
Someone I can trust
Someone I believe
Ohh la la la
How can I walk when I can't find a way
All I want is to tell me
You're going to take it away
From a lover to a friend
Take your own advice
Let me love again
Now that you turned out to be
Someone I can trust
Someone I believe
And what we haven't found
Will not be going down
Despite too easy ride to see
From a lover to a friend
You turned out to be
Someone I believe
From a lover to a friend
Take your own advice
Let me love again
Ohh la la la
How can I walk when I can't find a way
I have a dilemma
All I want is to tell me
You're going to take it away
From a lover to a friend
From a lover to a friend
From a lover to a friend
Let me love again

McCartney, Paul From A Lover To A Friend Comments
A beautiful song but tragic old heather gal ugly to him embarrassed him and downed him in front of others. I’m glad he and judge got her in end. This album GREATLY dissed my Macca and Beatles fans all over Internet I see in comments...they want TRADITIONAL Macca stuff but fuss he’s not edgy or adventurous enough, you know they say he’s middle of the road or sappy..the USUAL stereotypes..
Album has not received acclaim it deserves ...though Macca solo output has been re-evaluated in general and now seen as brilliant songwriter
The album cover does not fit the album at all
This song touches me deeply. Maybe it's my favourite between the olher hundreds...
Fabulous !
The first half minute sounds like a song George Harrison could have written.
Paul and George only wrote one or two tunes together, isn´t it a pity?
Isnt it a shame?
@piggies1 Did you 2 know George wrote a song with those lines in?
Called, Isn't It A Pity?
Too many heather references on this album explaij why it isnt played or promoted a lot. I bought it and liked it...my copy didn’t have that freedom shite on, so good
Guardian called it a masterpiece? Jesus, ok whatever.
I like what Paul is trying to do here but wish the lyrics made sense. He's jumping around with context, the rhyme scheme is lazy and stale. And, what in the world does 'Despite too easy ride to see' mean??? It is said this is supposed to be about Linda. I hope not. She deserved better lyrics than this.
hungfao giving Paul song writing tips? Let’s hear one of yours then......
Why should anyone give him song writing tips? That's the same attitude Paul has had since the middle 70's. When asked why he doesn't produce consistent material like 'Yesterday', 'Eleanor Rigby', or 'Hey Jude' since the Beatles' breakup, he indicated that since he is selling well enough already there seemed to be little point in putting himself through the hard work to come up with that kind of material all the time. He ran into a bit of flack when Nigel Godrich produced 'Chaos And Creation In The Backyard'. Godrich wouldn't let Paul settle so quickly and forced Paul out of his comfort zone. Paul was annoyed but the end result was a really fine collection of songs.
You can easily take any 10 songs Paul did while with the Beatles and compare them to any 10 songs afterwards and find that his solo material isn't as enduring. Why? He didn't have John or George to act as his buffers is, perhaps, the obvious answer. But let's face it - critics agree that Paul's solo material is essentially middling and even Paul has stated that he wonders what he was thinking when producing some of his material over the years.
Your position is flawed nevertheless. Paul's song writing itself is superior much of the time, IMO, and I don't criticize that. It's his lyrics that fall flat. I could cite dozens and dozens of examples over the decades and the objective perspectives would agree. But music is broadly subjective. Maybe you think a line like 'Despite too easy ride to see' is poetic brilliance. I do not. You could always prove me a fool by telling me what it even means.
I've have a library of bootleg recordings of Paul formulating his songs and he does have a tendency to settle too easily on vague or meaningless phrases.
As far as hearing one of mine? That is being worked on presently. You just might be hearing them very soon.
classic Macca..
That segway at 1.00 so reminds me of my departed slightly hippy ish Dad and his mates in the pub garden in the summer, with my bottle of coke and salt n vinegar crisps, a feint patchouli in the air - carefree days, for me at least around 6 years old - - im 43 now , the world is a different place. Mccartney has fantastic stuff post Beatle's, but there can be some rock ish stuff thats quite jarring....easy to excuse for tracks like this one, and many more to discover.
This album is so underrated :( it needs to be appreciated more
+Elisia Raybould No...it needs to be dropped...!!.
+Elisia Raybould I absolutely agree!
This was always one of my least favourite McCartney albums, and now that I'm listening to it more, it's starting to grow on me.. Not my fav - but a really decent album. I was too harsh in the past.
not exactly, lovely linda or my love, I think this was to heather............ish
Obladi Oblada is one of the first ska type songs, seems a silly song but its not at all... I have to admit that lennon gone fucked up recording and plays very hard piano at the beggining...
Obladi oblada is very good song, like all by Paul Genius McCartney.
You have to admit Obladi Oblada sounds like something a Hobbit would sing :)
let it be obladi oblada shit? cmon oscar...
like if you hear kate bush
Look m8 don´t h8 alrite! Im entitled to my own opinyon mate so plz just leave me alone. My guinea pig died today and i just dont need this
About a million times better than that Freedom wankery
@greenbeatles1 i totally see why people are turned off by stuff such as obladi oblada, let it be and alot of shit that hes done during the years. but as a solo artist hes probably the best of all four of them, plus he's probably my favorite bass player of all times. paul Mccartney is more than just a very very good musician, he's a true legend of biblical proportions living among us humans. thats exciting.
This shows Paul's gifts for: melody, which goes without saying. Also, the way he tailors his singing voice expressively for whatever song being sung. And , the art of his bass playing. Now I like the slap-happy virtuosity of Flea just fine, but you can't beat Paul's lyricism, which is like a caress.
geez, how can you NOT love paul?
Driving Rain is such an underrated album. Thanks for these postings!
uno de sus mejores discos no me canso de oirlo gracias paul
