McCartney, Paul - Footprints Lyrics
It's Beautiful Outside, An Old Hand Gathers Wood,
Can He See Me Sitting Here? His Mind Is Somewhere Else.
His Friend Have Flown Away, He's Left Out In The Cold.
He Won't Sit By My Fire, He Says He Likes It In The Snow.
Where Footprints Never Go, He Likes It In The Snow.
Has He Someone Waiting There? Or Is He Living On His Own?
Where Footprints Never Go, He Likes It In The Snow...
White Blanket, Hiding The Traces Of Tears She Didn't See,
Oh White Blanket Covers The Memory
Of All That Used To Be. All That Used To Be.
But His Heart Keeps Aching In The Same Old Way,
He Can't Help Feeling That She Might Come Back Someday.
It's Beautiful Outside, A Magpie Looks For Food.
The Old Hand Throws A Crumb,
Do You Think He's Found A Friend?
White Blanket, Hiding The Traces Of Paths He Didn't Take
Oh White Blanket Covers The Memory
Of Moves He Didn't Make
Oh White Blanket, Hiding The Traces Of Tears She Didn't See
Snow White Blanket Simply Covers The Memory
Of All That Used To Be.
But His Heart Keeps Aching In The Same Old Way
He Can't Help Feeling That She Might Come Back Someday.

Great song,album,artist and decade.
Enjoy...
It's beautiful outside, an old hand gathers wood,
Can he see me sitting here? his mind is somewhere else.
His friend have flown away, he's left out in the cold.
He won't sit by my fire, he says he likes it in the snow.
Where footprints never go, he likes it in the snow.
It's getting dark outside, the old hand's going home,
Has he someone waiting there? or is he living on his own?
Where footprints never go, he likes it in the snow...
White blanket, hiding the traces of tears she didn't see,
Oh white blanket covers the memory
Of all that used to be. all that used to be.
But his heart keeps aching in the same old way,
He can't help feeling that she might come back someday.
It's beautiful outside, a magpie looks for food.
The old hand throws a crumb,
Do you think he's found a friend?
Where footprints never go, he likes it in the snow...
White blanket, hiding the traces of paths he didn't take
Oh white blanket covers the memory
Of moves he didn't make
Oh white blanket, hiding the traces of tears she didn't see
Snow white blanket simply covers the memory
Of all that used to be.
But his heart keeps aching in the same old way
He can't help feeling that she might come back someday.
I'll never understand why this album got such crap reviews. It's bloody good and one of his most inventive and experimental. Brilliant.
There is this part that hauntingly reminds me of either Girl or I'm Only Sleeping... But his mind keeps thinking. I'm drunk
BEAUTIFUL.THIS ALBUM IS BRILLIANT.
My favorite Paul song that hardly anyone has ever heard.
Its perfect
OH i love this song so much .
This is one of my favourites. And some idiots say 'he never wrote anything good after the Beatles'. He wrote many good songs afterwards - Maybe I'm Amazed, Dear Boy, Every Night, My Love, Listen to What the Man Said, Jet, Another Day, Arrow Through Me, Goodnight Tonight, Tug of War, Wanderlust, Once Upon a Long Ago, Jenny Wren, Beware My Love.....
Anyone who said Paul never wrote anything good after the Beatles either needs to get a hearing test or...well...they have closed minds. His writing in the 70s is especially genius.
This song, is quite the gem. Just played it for my wife. She had never heard.
Agree his super deluxe edition reissues are totally the most worth getting by far out of all four Beatles!!! So much I've never heard before!!!
Somebody Who Cares, Hope Of Deliverance, Once Upon A Long Ago, Pipes Of Peace, This One, Put It There, etc, etc 😎
Right on brother
@Java Fizz and in his 70s
18th March 2018 snow in Cornwall, just had to hear this song.
Of all his genius, this ranks right up there with the best. Yet so little known.
I love this album. Good Times Coming/Feel The Sun, Footprints, However Absurd and Pretty Little Head, my favorites
The best song on '' Press to Play '' by some margin.
A little gem of a song.,Love hearing this song at winter time, just perfect.
I love this song
