Mazzy Star - In The Kingdom Lyrics

I took that train into the city
You know the one that goes under the bridge
I thought I was listening
To a band play a song that changed me
Hey hey hey hey hey hey

Walked up the stairs, the sunlight hit my face
See all the people just stand around
If all is right in the kingdom tonight
You know we'll play songs in this town
Hey hey hey hey hey hey

I took that train into the city
You know the one that goes under the bridge
I thought I was listening
To this band play a song that changed me
Hey hey hey hey hey hey

This song always brings tears to my eyes.

It's 5 years ago since my girlfriend left me on christmas and it still hurts. She was the love of my life and I lost her. Only thing that is left is the pain.

Bang down some Roxie’s (insert opiate of choice) bang on Mazzy star on continuous play 🌟 and float for hours downstream and don’t forget to say hello to those looking on down from the bridge

I will dedicate this song to when I am on my way home from school. I am just in a time I feel down. I will wait for the subway while looking at the reverse station across from me. I will stare at it and wonder why I don’t have any friends at all. Sure there are friends but they are just classmates. And then when I board the train I’ll open my book my English teacher (book :Boneshaker )lend me and I get so tired that even if it was interesting, my eyelids get heavy. My face neutral but glum and sad as if I haven’t seen the light in a while. I’ll try to clasp my naturally gaped mouth and try not to drool with my little strength mustered up from the day. And if I feel ashamed of dozing off I’ll just stare off into the feets on the opposite of me. I’ll just study how their pants creases at the end of their ankles. I’ll say sophomore year is ending soon but I am glad it is. It felt like a dread I thought. I wish something better happened to me. Maybe tomorrow will be better.

    Edit 12/3/19
2020 is around the corner. I came around to Mazzy Star since I was sad again after feeling a little cheated for my affection. I am now in my junior year and although I haven’t found any significant others like some of my friends have, I have my friends back. After a month into my junior year my close friends admitted for me to be myself and to be more selfish and tears flooded and I felt as if a weight has been lifted. It has been going well. I have discovered a boy that enjoyed the same kind of sleazy genre that I do as well. He’s been a good flow of conversation so far and I am glad I have been blessed to have such friends that were just a little bit scared to tell me to be outspoken. All is well, I have been spending lots of time with them and discovering who they are in this walk of life. See you again future me in 2020 hopefully.
Merry Christmas <3 to all the readers

NightMime there is someone for everyone. Friends are overrated and hard work. There is so much more out there than school when it’s over.

I discovered this gem around 3 years ago and have listened to this a couple thousand times since. I listen to it every night just before bedtime + countless other times when I'm taking a bath, or on a plane/train, out in nature.... It suits these occasions perfectly for me and I don't listen to anything else most of the time. Just this song on repeat. Truly a wonderful masterpiece!
