Matthew Good - Something Like A Storm Lyrics
Fall asleep your head on my chest
Dream of something effortless
My heart beats out a message born
Of something like a storm
From town to town and song to song
Feel the faces of strangers warn
Of something like a storm
Something like a storm
Something like a storm
Hold on as if a chain
That we made against the waves
As if a light where the nights are long
From town to town and home to home
Something like a storm
Something like a storm
Something like a storm

Somehow his vocal reminds me of Michael Stipe of R.E.M
DO U HEAR THIS SOUND ?? ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️damn this takes me to other dimensions
He needs another album !!!!!!! 2019 patiently waiting
Most underrated artist in rock.
Matthew Good is my choice for 'If I'm stranded on a desert island and can only choose one musician'
Everything just works with this song. Loving it.
I've been meditating on this album for a few days. All I have to say is I'm happy to see Matthew Good is back.
What an amazing song. This album is the best.
First time hearing this-I like it.
Just saw him live tonight in New Glasgow, was amazing!! Good job boys, oh and the guitarist threw me his pick...
I've heard this song described as dry, plodding, monotonous and void of a climax.... but considering the lyrics are about his son falling asleep on his chest, I find the metronomic rhythm of the guitar work harmonizes perfectly with this theme. The way the lead riff rises and falls makes me feel like I'm listening to a heartbeat, but the crashing drums shatter the ambience and paint me a picture that all is not well beneath the surface of the seemingly tranquil narrative scene of Matt and his son.
this man deserves more respect.
Sounds as good as ever. Way to go Matthew!
I am so glad to hear that you are doing well.
his best yet.more to come.hard to beat this.
still listening to this cd
You Have to see the FUTURE.
The drive in this song is epic, but yes, very much missing the climax, kept me waiting for the never to happen....even a backing vocal would have sufficed, but I know matt is a non conformist so here we are
Absolutely love Matthew Good. Amazing voice that brings the music to life. Brings me back to the best times of my life. His music has saved me more than once, listening to his albums over and over. I still have a drum stick from a small venue back in early 2000's (small venues were the best, still are). I was in the front row in and out as we were all so crammed in. I remember making eye contact with Matt like it was yesterday! Surreal and I just love that memory! it was in Wasaga Beach - the Dard! Seen him more than any other artist in concert and he never disappoints. Just saw him the other night play this song and it took my breath away! Love the new album! Thank you Matt <3
This song is amazing! Everything he does crushes me. He never disappoints!
I'll give it a chance. So many MG songs I outright hated, but over time I grew to love. Haven't had this experience with any other artist
His voice sets my skin on fire.
all songs from matt are a great masterpiece... sorry for my bad english, is not my native language hehe
you did fine
Yes, very pore inglich, use chinez time next
I hope Matt plays this live on tour next year. Would be epic.
He started off his set last night in Beaumont with it
, thank you for your work.
28 years of following him, never disapointed
10 years, so you're like my old brother :'D
" YES " My Friend !!!!!!!!! Never Ever Disapointed From This Guy
This is fucking incredible, my favorite off his new album, this shit somehow takes me right back to the Beautiful Midnight sound
😀Great Song...🙈🙉🙊
I adore this (like so, so many of your other songs). Matthew Good, you're amazing.
Gorgeous💎💘
Always appreciate the Matthew Good songs that are more of a slow burn. I remember when he used to pen songs which seemed to me for the sole purpose of being radio pop hits. They always come across as a little cynical to me now. Songs like Anti-Pop come to mind. I feel that all came to a screeching halt with Hospital Music, an almost painfully raw and authentic album. Now everything is strictly on his own terms. He doesn't have the mainstream appeal he once did, but that's to be expected; he doesn't pander to the masses anymore. Really looking forward to this album, as I'm sure everyone else who has remained faithful all these years is.
Also: pizzicato in this! This reminds me of classical composing in parts, even apart from the fact that there are orchestral elements.
A slow burn, or a waking coma? This is dry and plodding without a climax. Other than Decades, this album is forgetable. Just another deep dive into the morose and depressing. No wonder he needs handfuls of pills, anybody would.
You really don't get it then. Matthew Good wrote 'Anti Pop' because he had to write a 'radio friendly song' as directed by his record label. He penned, in his own words, an attempt at the worst song he could write. It proved his point that the result was the drivel that the record execs wanted. After his accidental overdose of Ativan in 2006 (that he only survived because of his parents), he committed himself to a mental health facility. While there, he was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder and he WROTE the entire album of Hospital Music IN HIS HEAD.
This song is specifically about his son falling asleep on his chest, while in Matt's own mind the storm of Disphoric Mania rages. If you have any understanding of mental illness this would make sense in a least a little way.
Everyone's tastes are different....
I'm a life long Matthew good fan. This album is good but it's too synthetic. Not enough acoustic guitar and the natural sound that makes him great.....just an opinion
It's not released yet.
If you're a lifelong fan, you should know that he's released albums before that are less "acoustic". So far I'm really digging the tracks on this album. In fact, as a lifelong fan, I think Matt Good started to hit his stride with Audio of Being (a criminally underappreciated album, even by the artist himself), and reached his creative Apex with the masterful Hospital Music. He hasn't faltered since, and I don't expect him to fumble this time either.
If you're a life long fan ? Wouldn't it be boring if Matt wasn't as unique and musically altering as he's been and will hopefully continue to be. Lyrically there is no one to even compare; in my opinion. Obviously the Beatles but that's it. Wait til the whole record drops on October 20th ! U might have a more fair outlook on his new album. 😎
I love how his sound has evolved over the past few albums...his lyrics are always thoughtfully put together but to me it is his instrumental that mostly stands out...the fluidity of his transitions are second to none...
Yeah it's growing on me more...it's always good for an artist to evolve
One of Canada's artists beyond reproach–consist talent with a catalogue of unbeatable depth. You start to wonder how someone has a muse like this.
I'm from Russia and I love him so much :)
bipolar manic depression - thats how someone has a muse like this :/
Thank you
@mcaldw Not true. :) I'm a Hungarian and neither me and my family love his music. I've been listening his work for several years now. His style, his voice, and what he interprets is absolutely unique.
@mcaldw Poland here! I do really respect him from many many years! Absolutely phenomenal!
