Matthew Good Band - Suburbia Lyrics
You will come back within yourself
you can be art when we melt
and i will know what you were for
i say we're leaving
there ain't nothing here at all
and baby if I was in demand
you would be mind
someday this place it going to burn
is your whole life in there waiting?
someday your head is going to turn and you'll realize
i'm missing, do you realize?
you will come back
convince yourself you can stay alive
and i will know what this was for
and I'll say we're leaving
there ain't nothing here at all
another month, a year that's all
so you can tell them I'm coming
and hell's coming with me
someday this place is going to burn
is your whole life in the waiting
someday their heads are going to turn and they'll realize
you're missing
we are there

Well if hell is whete all the people who give a shit go while the rich psychos who run this world get heaven on earth while we get burned and tortured yes please come get me. I think 12 years of exposing these psychos and keeping my faith and spending over 2 decades helping others should get me a ticket off this crazy planet with their fake white sun.
well done on the video
i can't believe this song is 20 years old
Play this at my funeral....
makes me think of "the highway of tears"
“ it only takes 1 to start a chain reaction “🐁
No one will realize when I’m missing someday
same :(
So glad this one (video) still exists. Matt must like it
Youuuu will come backkkk within yourself uuuuuu can be all when we melt ,I will know what u were for I still believe in uuuuuuu -2019 till eternity .....
Clemlee13 You really should be complimented quite highly for your creative work on this video. I must have watched your video for this song a few hundred times by now. You captured the emotion and feeling of the lyrics so very well. @matthewgoodband should be celebrating this masterpiece on your behalf !
my #1 favorite from Matthew Good Band. This song is dark and beautiful, never gets old.
Suburbia
Matthew Good
You will come back within yourself
You can be art when we melt
And I will know what you were for
I say we're leaving
There ain't nothing here at all
Another day, a week, the mall
And baby if I was in demand
You would be mine x2
Someday this place is gonna burn
Is whole life in there waiting?
Someday your head is gonna turn
And you'll realize I'm missing
Do you realize?
You will come back, convince yourself
You can stay alive and wait for me
And I will know what this was for
And I'll say we're leaving
There ain't nothing here at all
Another month, a year that's all
So you can tell them I'm coming and
Hell's coming with me x2
Someday this place is gonna burn
Is whole life in there waiting?
Someday their heads are gonna turn
And they'll realize you're missing
So you can tell them I'm coming and Hell's coming with me
Someday this place is gonna burn
Is whole life in there waiting?
Someday their heads are gonna turn
and they'll realize you're missing
Love this song .. good taste .....
Dave Parker
i remember this from when my dad used to play it in the car :'(
This song just takes me far far away ...............
So beautiful.....that voice
I remember dropping ecstasy at wonderland when this song came on, a moment and feeling I will never forget.
Great work on the video for a fantastic song. He's doing another tour of this album in 2017 people!! I got my tickets for Ottawa :D
omg thanks for letting me know!
@Sydney Mansaray Your welcome :)
Classic
Sharpblade with OLP
Truly, beautifully haunting. This song is a legitimate masterpiece, buried deep in the depths of the most talented Canadian rock songs. Matt and the band orchestrated this tune to perfection. It truly speaks deeply to one's ears, soul, and heart, and mine especially.
OhhFrikshunz indeed bro, indeed.
One of his best.
If you don't get goosebumps from this tune....you have no soul
nice video cleemee13
i think this song was 11pm on the disk. that was cool.
Oh God, the depressing song is beautiful. I hate how he does that.
He is a lyrical genius there is no doubt there, Pretty good on the music side too.
This song has a way of showing you how it feels to have the one you love and also how it feels to not have the one you loved....All at the same time.
this song breaks your heart over and over
I still like box my ears daddy
One of my faves. I moved away from everyone I knew when this song got into my head. Was dealing with breakup..was 21 and was obsessed with this song. Funny how he now lives in the town I ran away from.
bless everyone
amazing artist <3
Probably one of the greatest lyricists of the past 25 years.
i miss the 90s :(
+chompsky10 I miss new wave.
You probably have a brain cloud
ha-HAAAAA!!!!
All of matts music is a complete representation of his inner self. The struggle between mania and depression, you can hear it in his fast paced up beat songs - with depressing generally unhappy lyrics, and than with his slower sounding sad songs - with encouraging uplifting lyrics. He seems to juggle the good and bad from his disease in all of his music, even before he knew he was bi-polar.
Truly a work of art. and something i can resonate with on a closer level than any other artist.
Well said.
People who struggle with something in their live go deeper than most people
I can hear it in his music ....had my own struggles in live
nice to find someone who can express it in beautiful music
not everyone has that talent....love and blessings
incredible memories in this song, thanks for sharing
This song is amazing, however does not help my manic depression. Especially today, Christmas Eve
I love this song, actually the whole album <3
I wish Matthew Good would come back to Sask.
He was here in 1999, for this album debut, but the stoners
who came to the concert, booed him, and he told us to Fuck off
and said he would never come here again, and he was true to his word :(
so sad, asshole people, I bet they're
kicking themselves.............
Terry Dee that sucks. he starting another tour in 2017, and guess what, it's a beautiful midnight revisit. you should check the locations.
He is in Fort Saskatchewan tonight for an acoustic set!
this is it awsome
It bothers me that I cannot pull this up on the Youtube app on Apple TV to properly blast it. A fantastic song given a very fitting video by a fan. Great work Clemlee13
Get a chrome cast! They work with all apps and mirror screens!
If any song resembles how I feel about Victoria BC, this does right to a T, At times I wonder if anyone will know or care when I'm not there anymore? Anyone who has or who is currently living there can agree, this place makes me feel like a ghost almost. "Someday their heads are gonna turn when they realize that you're missing". This has always one of my favorite songs of his.
I feel the same way.
@The Bow Tie Gamer Really have visited or currently living there? I have been here for over 20 years now.
Visited often, I am a New Brusnwick guy though.
I think it's sad you feel that way. Maybe find a way to make them see you. 😊
Trying too thanks.
this song chews up my soul and spits it out... so depressingly wonderful/ wonderfully depressing
Thanks for uploading
This song still gives me chills. Great job on the video, even with the watermarks.
nicely done. even with the watermarks.
This song takes me outside of time. It has the same effect on me that it did when I first heard it. Everything is temporary. Every moment is reflexive and redundant. Yet there's still hope that we'll have the effect on others that they have on us. That we'll find a way to exact change on some level.
Lyrics are a form of poetry.
I'm not a trickster... I'm too socially awkward to pull off that motif. I'd rather just listen to this song alone (annually a few dozen times a year) to think about my life in hopes that this current perspective will help me figure out what I should do.
Matt isn't a poet...he's a singer/song writer
I'd prefer to not 'trick a chick' ....but to each their own. cheers. Maybe I have a hint of class.
Wicked song
beautiful midnight
For me personally this song had a profound effect on how I viewed music. To me lyrics were often just bad poetry that happened to work well because of the music that lifted it. This song was a demonstration of how profound poetry can be made exponentially more beautiful and haunting with the right sonic background. It motivated me to want to become a singer.
My absolute favorite Matthew Good Band song. Thanks for the upload.
not fair...no one believes me ...this son was written by a gilr named Amrit from vancouver abou ther boyfried dave parker. She was friends with Matthew so there. I have to deal with Dave parker now , and this creeps me out.
... Actually on second glance my reasoning for purposely saying a bad joke did nothing but tarnish my story about an honest moment I had years ago, I'll be removing that now.
I don't fully understand your reply, but your initial comment was a good one. The cummy dick seemed...well, to lower the standards yet again. Cheers well done. You've joined the league of millions of internet idiots.
Great comment.
Listening to this song in high school had a really profound effect. Especially when it’s you’re final year sitting in English 12 looking out a window that is the entire length of the classrooms wall, located at a section of the school on top of hill overlooking a street with farms, trees, & a park on one side & massive suburbia on the other. While you’re observing classmates & friends thinking about how frustrating, temporary & disappointing this had all been while realizing - it never mattered.
Thanks clemlee13........Love from Cincy
amazing song... Where has all the time gone since I first heard it...
The only song that can make me think my deepest, proud to be Canadian!
Matthew Good is my hero. His voice never fails to give me goosebumps-live even better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This track is so huge. Melt my mind friend.
Or as I seem to remember "Co-motherfucking-quitlam". Pretty sure I remember seeing him wearing a shirt with that on it once...
all in all were all just bricks in the wall.
Yes, indeed you may.
Wow...can I quote you on that?
radical, hey?
I go through life hard as a rock with almost no feeling... then this happens... I don't know what this feeling is but I think I can fly.
its about Coquitlam B.C
aka suburbia, a useless life not worth living (imo) in a house the same as your neighbors, no personality, green grass, a trip to Mexico once a year. No spirit, no heritage, never left the province or state (maybe a bs vacation to a place comfy as home), lousy boring sex with your teen crush/signifigant other. Enjoy the mall. Thats what you won in life.
D GW the life of a zombie indeed
Let's party like it's 1999.
Real person, real artistic talent. Real music.
Oh 1999... Where have you gone.
@robertalanhead I am so glad that he´s absolutely NOT mainstream! Sometimes it´s better that some artists not become that popular - only fans know how good he is and I´m pretty sure he´s got a lot of fans :-)
@TheNosyarg13 the lyrics booklet says "another day, a week, the mall" . when it doesnt make clear sense off the bat.. i always tend to think it sounds better! :)
Is he actually saying "Another day, a week, the mall", or is it "another day, a week, them all" ? Because I feel like the latter makes way more sense.
It is emphatically "THE MALL" !
eu amo essa música, amo esse homem!!! kisses from brazil
0 dislikes ;)
lol I know WHO this song is really about ... I know him personally
Something always makes me feel good that Matthew Good is our little secret and never made it mainstream, but at the same time, i think mainstream has lost something because of it.
I think about 300 views on this count are from me alone
@TheCroatiaKid Yeah, definitely! ;-)
I love this song! Matthew Good Band was so awesome!!! Would love to hear more music like this! It´s so much better then the crap of today ;-)
someday this place is gonna burn
this song chews up my soul and spits it out... so depressingly wonderful/ wonderfully depressing
@JMAN19851 Huh I would have never thought of this song as someone’s "make out song" I guess if you completely ignore the context of the lyrics it could create the right vibe. But to me this song will always capture the feeling of entrapment and the thought that everything is momentary and pointless. So I guess what I’m saying is it wouldn’t really put me in the mood unless you were going for the “time is steadily passing by lets not waste our lives” trick to get the chick to play with your dick.
This song breaks my heart and gives me hope all at the same time..
by far the best make out song
@JMAN19851 *Swoon*
my wepon i use on girls , i have a candel lit dinner & i have a rose & get on my sofa , just gently rubb the rose up & down their necks & bam a true way to any girls heart
He is a true poet. When there's too much bullshit on tv/news/earth I just get on here and give him a listen and remember it's not all lost.
@IslandRoninMedic people have indeed shat on his music videos on youtube, but we just ignore them, or it tells them to piss off in the description of the video.
best song to makeout to,hold your gril to
i love to play this song on my pick nick date at night all i need is the moonlight & my grilfriend & love to guid us & my weapon is my heart
Great song!!!
this song & me have a history i always play this when my girl friend comes over . i play this song & we always kiss for hours .
We are all hoping that God will let Matthew Good be IMMORTAL and LIVE ON FOREVER.
Amazing video! This fits the song so well, and I love how smoothly the clips and pictures of MG(B) flow together.
The song flows perfectly with the video, and the song is absolutely beautiful.
Very well done production here...I think you absolutely captured the essence of the song visually! NICE!!!!!
