It's amazing to finally find a recording that includes the verse.

it's called a vocal refrain I think - a few lines before the main phrase. It was usually performed by the band before the vocalist sang the main theme.

Just LOVE John's version of this 20's classic....I first heard this beautiful song in the movie "SOME LIKE IT HOT" 1959...Marilyn Monroe switches the radio on, on Tony Curtis's yaght to get him in the mood...he'd have to be DEAD not to get arroused at the sight of Marilyn in that skintight dress of "skin and beads" WOW!!! If you haven't seen it,it is a true GEM!! Just as John's incomparable voice and charisma...and thank you for your work on this splendid video,and for your love for this superstar!!! BTW....I have ALL his albums on vinyl!! Some are multiples....and NO ONE sings "the Christmas song" ( chestnuts roasting) like him!! Have loved his singing literally all my life...and I'm now 55!!!!

I played this song so many times when I was a teenager I literally wore the record out. There was and is NO voice that embodies ROMANCE like Johnny's.....every song he sings becomes his. I could listen to this 24 hours a day.
