I met Mr. Mathis a couple of years ago in Raleigh NC after his concert. He was such a gracious and wonderful man. He was being driven away and saw me run up to the car and he had his driver stop. He gladly autographed my vintage albums and answered my questions. He also let me get my photo taken with him! What a classy man.

All of Johnny's songs remind me of my teenage years, the best years of my love life.

I'm pretty sure Connie Francis had a hit with this, around 1956 or 1957.  I think I was in sixth grade.

If she did, I haven't found it (haven't looked up her discography yet). When I was a preteen, I could mimic her voice pretty nearly perfectly, and I sang this song a lot. I ended up with a teaching minor in choral music (BA in English).

There are quite a few singers that touch my heart but Johnny is among them. Timi Yuro can move me for example. Her version of "Smile" or "I Apologize" are very emotional.

I remember the Jukebox, Doris Day, Rock Hudson, James Dean, Marilyn Monroe, Johnny Mathis sang this so beautifully, awesome, but I do not know if I am sad or what.  It has been a long time, I was so young then, when I saw Johnny Mathis, so young a very good looking. Bringing back the hands of time Johnny, makes me sad but feeling young.  Thank you for the beautiful music.

This album is available on cd and throughly enjoyable. It's out of print but you can find pre- owned copes on Amazon and eBay. It's worth it!

Back in 56/57/58/59/60 when I was a young Disc Jockey in Bakersfield California KGEE 1240, I played as much of Johnny Mathis that I could get away with when on the air.  Never a bad interpretation by Johnny of everything he recorded.

Johnny has been one of my all-time favorites for years. He went to sea with me when I was in the Navy. Almost every night he was on my tape player and sang to me while I fell to sleep with planes landing about 20 feet over my head on an aircraft carrier.

A lot of doo wop songs are covers and re-makes of old standards, you'd be surprised.
