Mathis, Johnny - I Was Telling Her About You Lyrics

My arms were around her
My eyes were a-glow
The moment was tender
The music was low
But while we were dancing
I think you should know
I was telling her about you

Can it get any better? Johnny Mathis sings these songs and I must say he gives credit to the woman he is dancing with and also in the song "what will my Mary say" Thank you for posting this.

The great Johnny mathis was always kept secluded away from his african american people because he was considered as the golden goose among caucasion people. You could buy his albums and records ni matter who you were, but the white people kept him mainly 4 themselves. They kept his secrets away from the public. and any gossip until years later because he had such a beautiful voice that God blessed him with he was and is asuper star. And as far as that woman that someone is always asking who she is, if you notice she not a woman of color she is caucasion, white woman so if you would use your head, you can see they try to keep everyone that is great with great talent, surrounded with them. Their people it does not take a rocket scientist to figure that out. Because Johnny at this moment does not deal with women romantically. It took years for people to find out he was gay. You could guess but most of us were not sure. Thats what i meant tbey hid his secrets from the puplic for years because he was precious, and valuable to them. more valuable than many other entertainers. The golden goose!!!!!! Of our era. Thank u 4 listening Maria is my name.

Nonsense! You sound racist. "Golden Goose" is a silly word to apply to JM and his talent.

Still loving those so much like alwwsys but I still chuckle that in this era it's not going to be believable, but when I was a teen...maybe.

  21. J.... K....

Always smiling about this song I adore, he's the only one who could sing me this that I'd believe he was telling her about me. It's a beautiful song from an era that can never happen again, lucky me, I was there, there.

Johnny does a wonderful job on this hauntingly beautiful song - phrasing is second nature for him. The LP called Rapture was released in 1962 and the backing was provided by Don Costa. Thanks for the video.
