JOHNNY MATHIS is one of the most magnificent and talented singers I have ever listened to and I might add that velvet ROMANTIC VOICE is a hard one to top however this song although excellently done was knocked out of the park by Mel Carter.
But Johnny Mathis's songs very hard to top that magnificent voice !!!!!!

When Johnny was young with his magical voice there was not a better source of goose pimples on earth! Mel Carter's version was my mainstay as a young teenager. But Johnny gave him a run for his money here. Don't you agree?

They were both excellent. I like Jonny’s phrasing better. It’s a little smoother but Mel did it well also.

I was 16 when i heard this song for the first time and head over heals in love with Debbie Morino. Her kisses used to set me on fire. We would listen to this song and make out sometimes until 4 or 5 in the morning when her father would have to get up to go to work. we'd duck out until he was gone, then spend half the day making out on her couch. This song brings back such fond memories of a special time in my life. Debbie, I wonder where you are now and if you had a great life. Thank you for loving me the way you did. This song was written by Harry Noble in 1952. Mel Carter recorded it back in 1965 and gave it a place in history. I read that his recording sold over a million copies and was awarded a gold disc. The original version was released by Karen Chandler in 1952 and was her only hit. I liked this the first time I heard Mel sing it, it was a hit in the 1950's as well as the '60's. It was recorded by many artists over the years, Connie Francis, Gloria Estefan, and of course our Johnny.

Great, great song. I like Mel Carter's version just a little better, but Johnny Music's version comes very, very close.

The 1st time I fell in love with this song was the 1st time I ever heard it (different version). It was on an ad for a phone book ... the yellow pages, about twenty years ago. I've learned of so many wonderful songs through tv commercials.
