Mathis, Johnny - Go Away Little Girl Lyrics

Go away, little girl, go away, little girl
I’m not supposed to be alone with you
I know that your lips are sweet
But our lips must never meet
I belong to someone else and I must be true

Oh, go away, little girl, go away, little girl
It’s hurting me more each moment that you delay
When you are near me like this
You’re much too hard to resist
So go away, little girl, before I beg you to stay

When you are near me like this
You’re much too hard to resist
So go away, little girl, before I beg you to stay

Go away
Please don’t stay

I'm so sorry for your loss Andi Marie. I was brought up with music in our home. A day never went by that my Mother didn't play Johnny Mathis, Percy Faith, and the music of John Barry and Nat King Cole. I was raised listening to the best music. And I raised my children on the same. The music today doesn't come close. How wonderful and beautiful and sweet you were to bring Johnny to your Mothers bedside as she passed on.

  25. A.... M....

My Mom was a big Johnny Mathis lover.....this morning she passed away from cancer as I played this song for her....may you rest in peace my sweet mother...get your wings and fly with the angels!! <3

in 70s i receive a gift from my father Long Play (LP) with this song and others and using an phillips stereo play thousands times and sing together in these time we do not have karaoke. this remember child time.

  30. M.... M....

I have the LP, and also I have this from the 6-LP boxed set "The Johnny Mathis Treasury" on the Columbia House label which was part of the "Columbia Musical Treasury" series. I got this from my uncle when I was visiting in Florida. He used to have this LP for many years, so he gave it to me. This boxed set is rare and tough to find, one of my holy grails in my collection.

Just had a flashback-I do remember Johnny Mathis singing this Song. I won a bet with another kid back in the early 70s with The Osmond Brothers sung it.

  32. g.... ....

I didn't know that Johnny sung this song-it's amazing that I didn't know this!

  33. S.... ....

    The most beautiful version.
When recording artists went into session, it was full studio orchestra!
Not synthesized and layered as today. Tony
