I have always loved and adored this song. But the lyrics never held any meaning for me until my Carol came into my life. In two weeks I will celebrate what would have been our 30th anniversary if she had lived. Oscar Hammerstein's lyrics are possibly the best expression of what that dear wonderful lady has meant, and still means, to me.

At this stage of my life, Johnny has not just given me pleasure from his songs but a new leash on life.

Although Oscar Hammerstein died before I was born, I have enjoyed his music for five decades. How timeless it is. The brilliance of Jerome Kern's compositions have allowed musicals to come alive for generations.
