I love this song. A lot of people believe it's about the world ending but I think it's about suicide and depression. It makes me think that even though most of my life has been difficult, it's been getting better. Peace out brothers.

Wow this song hits home for me right now.
As someone coming of age in 2019 (20yo) I really do feel like I'm "waking up at the start of the end of the world", with just about a decade left for the world to act on climate change before irreversible damage is done. Despite the severity of the situation, everyday life is "feeling just like every other morning before", and no one ever talks about it in real life and nothing seems to change. "I guess we're gonna pretend" like everything is fine until our life support systems really start breaking down, at which point "I guess we're gonna find out" how bad it really can get. I find myself often "taking a look at myself" and my own inaction despite my full knowledge that the world is "headed for hell". How can I live with myself in the future knowing I did not act while there was still time? The babies and children of today would probably give anything to be in my shoes, old enough to act in 2019, and yet I am throwing away my opportunity and the luck I had to be born while there was still hope. Worse, I'm contributing to the problem with my lifestyle. To me "let's see how far we've come" means: are we advanced enough as a species to put aside our differences and act like our future depends on it? How can we claim to have "come far" and be an intelligent species if we can't even keep ourselves or our planet alive?

it's like this song was taken right out of my own thoughts, and it is more relevant today than ever.
