This song is my argument for why emperor of sand is a let down, whenever anyone says otherwise it's just "yeah but have you heard Last Baron? Why give up the ambient melodic genius for some overly cleanly produced grunge type songs?"

Fuck I love this album, I use to get so fucking high listening to this album all the way through only to replay it again, this would go on all day and for weeks at a time. people would complain because every time they came over i was once again playing this album, and if anyone asked to change song they got met with an unstoppable force. FUCK YEAH MASTODON!

Trying to get into this band for ages. After a lot of listening finally i get why people love them so much. I think mastodon is overated back then and i was totally wrong. Mastodon is journey, glad i can understand them now.

Back in '84, Iron Maiden released Powerslave and the last song is a 13-minute epic (Rime of the Ancient Mariner) that eclipses the rest of the album. Fast forward to 2009 and Mastodon releases Crack the Skye where the last song is again a 13-minute epic that tops the album. Lightning CAN strike twice.

I started my Prog journey with Pink Floyd (all time favorite band). Also Faith No More, who I consider more Prog than Nu Metal as many classify them. Tool (second favorite) was my bridge to modern Prog. Opening my mind for bands like Meshugga, Opeth, Porcupine Tree, Karnivool, Jinjer and others. And Mastodon is now another of my top 5 favorite bands. Thanks Pink Floyd, Faith No More, Tool, and Mastodon for keeping my taste in music always on the edge of the envelope.

This band live, leaves so much to be desired. Instrumentally, they are totally on point, but vocally (especially when preforming their really early stuff) is almost cringe worthy. I still love their albums though.

Chad Smiley I hear you. They're one of my favourite bands but they're definitely hit or miss live. If they can't do it live then they shouldn't do it on the album. Maiden record their albums live in the studio. That's why they sound the same at a gig.

I saw them play this live on another video and they nailed it! that is talent. their drummer has marathon endurance coupled with a+ timing, it's rare to find a group of guys who are as good as they sound on their album!
