This lady is superb - always has been, always will be. Makes me laugh but, I have to say, makes me cry more often than not - sad tears for wasted years eh? This acoustic version SHOULD be the definitive article - accept no others :-)

Real talent.

I've loved Chapin's music since I was introduced to her singing "Opening Act" at the CMA awards in 1990. Her music is quite simply timeless, lyrics sublime and completely thought provoking whilst challenging boundaries. One of the best collaborators I've known in the industry, and with the great (and sadly late) John Jennings they were a magical combination, and that's without even mentioning Joan Baez & Shawn Colvin. The song and album are no different and Chapin continues to produce music that searches the innermost soul. An amazing rare talent with a voice that stops you in your tracks.

Plus Matt Rollings on piano. Terrific keyboard player, who also plays for Mark Knopfler amongst many others.

Mary Chapin Carpenter is one of my favorite female singers.
She is the best.

I know it doesn't matter to her, but I wish she had radio airplay. She is one million times better than anything on the radio today. She will always be my favorite singer/songwriter. I have listened to her from the very beginning and have all her albums.

was heading home from the Outer Hebrides and there was a late night article on the radio on Mary, I had never heard of her but her voice and the haunting quality of this song touched me deep inside and now I think she is incredible, so thanks hun for lifting me on the long lonely road

I love her new single which RADIO 2 is playing alot.

Saw Mary in Bristol and she was heavenly. Surrounded by sensitive and passionate musicians and her vocals and playing were jaw dropping. Thank you Mary for all you bring to our lives. " I have a need" was just SO beautiful. SO beautiful.
