The Supremes were First girl group to sign but the Marvalettes were the 1st girl group to get a No.1 Pop and written by one of its members. They were the No.1 girl group Early Motown 1961-1962. Until the Vandellas 1963 Heat Waved them into Quicksand! Stealing the Top spot away from the Marvalettes. The Vandellas had a short rein holding1st position 1964 The Supremes Where Did Our Love Go? Probably had the Vandellas and Marvalettes asking Motown where did Our position Go??? We Were No. 1 Female group 1961-1963 What Happened. 5 No.1. Pop in a row(The Supremes) is how the other groups Lost their position as being no1 girl group. Not because they weren't talented it was about the charts and crossover(Pop) that solified a position.
