Martyn, John - Bless The Weather Lyrics
Time after time, I held it
Just to watch it die
Line after line, I loved it
Just to watch it cry
Curse the storm that takes you away
Bless the weather that brought you to me
Curse the storm that takes you home
Wave after wave, I watched it
Just to watch it turn
Day after day, I cooled it
Just to watch it burn
Bless the weather that brought you to me
Bless the weather that brought you to me
Curse the storm that takes you away
Pain after pain I stood in
Just to see how it would feel
Rain after rain I stood in
Just to make it real
Bless the weather that brought you to me
Curse the day you go away
Bless the weather that brought you to me
Curse the storm that takes you away
Time after time, I held it
Just to watch it die
Line after line, I held it
Just to watch it cry
Bless the weather that brought you to me
Curse the storm that takes you away
Bless the weather that brought you to me
Curse the storm that takes you away

Sublime sonic interplay of John and Danny....master musicians....pure magic!
When John Martyn was at his peak. It has the ominous character of the best of Nick Drake along with that narcotic beauty. Except Martyn did it far more times. I didn't cry when Hendrix died. I cried when John Martyn died. RIP my friend.
John Martyn was unique at the time he was here. I saw hi m live in a small pub called the Londonderry hotel around 1974/5,. A genius of a performer and a joy to listen too. A memory to try cherish if you were there
probably my favourite JM song. This week.
John M. & John G. - Very Nice melody<3...
John,and Danny,........perfection
Robin Pecknold brought me here. Very fine. Absence of stress.
what would you call this type of music - aside from beautiful that is ?
psibernaut777 .......I don’t care for “genres” for this very reason, some musicians *can’t* be slotted into certain pigeon-holes. So many artists are difficult to define, John Martyn, Nick Drake (who were friends incidentally) the lovely Sandy Denny (RIP) and Fairport Convention and so on but to the best of my knowledge, these are all regarded as “Folk” (perhaps Folk/Rock) musicians and/or bands. You had it right with “beautiful”.
and the incredible Danny Thompson on bass :)
No one ever credits Danny Thompson!! Honestly!!??
@john pluck Oh yes, they do my mate.
Perfect
Saw John Martyn in concert in the 70's in Melbourne Australia sadly many walked out as he was so affected by the drugs he was almost totally incoherent.
David Marshall he was not incoherent to those who listened with their hearts.
I saw him in the late '70s (77 or 78) as a student. I was so naïve then I had no idea of his drug/alcohol probs. Saw him again c 2006. Legend.
I've been a fan since the 1970s. He wrote some beautiful songs.
One of my all-time favourite albums. Sublimely beautiful.
This was recorded the year I was born. Brilliant. I was born in a good year!

I can listen to John Martyn all day every day.

I AM JOHN WAYNE!
I heard this on BBC 2 radio late one night and just fell totally in love with it on the first listen. Then a bit later I discovered the genius of John Marty and the depth of his talent sadly after his death. I just thank God for recordings technology. God Bless you you wonderful man RIP John Martyn.
A beautiful track, this album has long been one of my treasures. Thanks for a lovely post. RIP John.

sublime...........
291 views?! what a travesty, this man was a legend.
+Normal Nor People listen to him on other media. Dont worry he'll never be forgotten. Love him with your head and heart xx
in all fairness nicks lifetime was over by his early twenties
I dare say it will keep steadily building (42,376 as I look at it now). Renaissance Man said he wouldn't compromise himself - that was true in some bad ways. If he'd looked after himself he might be with us still but he was famous for his abuse of intoxicants. I don't really know whether to describe him as uncompromising musically - I find it hard to know what he was trying to do with some of his later electric music which I find empty and lifeless compared to the work he did in the 60s and 70s.
is not was!
If you know, you know.
