Marty Robbins - The Story Of My Life Lyrics

Someday I'm going to write
The story of my life
I'll tell about the night we met
And how my heart can't forget
The way you smiled at me

I want the world to know
The story of my life
About the night your lips met mine
And that first exciting time
I held you close to me

The sorrow in our love was breakin' up
The mem'ry of a broken heart
But later on, the joy of makin' up
Never never more to part

There's one thing left to do
Before my story's through
I've got to take you for my wife
So the story of my life
Can start and end with you

The sorrow in our love was breakin' up
The mem'ry of a broken heart
But later on, the joy of makin' up
Never never more to part

There's one thing left to do
Before my story's through
I've got to take you for my wife
So the story of my life
Can start and end
Can start and end
Can start and end with you

    Burt Bacarach wrote the song.

And with the beautiful backing vocals and whistles from the Glaser Brothers.

  3. j.... ....

Marty only had one hit in the UK - Devil Woman, all his other songs were hits for UK artists who covered them..

  4. j.... d....

LOL @ "Ba bum...bum...bum' over and over. Does it get any more cornball than that? The stupid, out of tune amateur whistling isn't much better.

I don't know which one of his songs is my favorite, its so hard to chose. Never will we get such good Western songs from singers like M.R.and others who have passed on.R.I.P.

This song wants me to sit, relax and take it easy. It is a wonderful song by Beloved Marty Robbins.

  16. T.... J....

Take out all the silly whistling and it would be a hit again today.

  17. B.... M....

Marty Robbins was the most vocally talented artist of the '50s, hands-down

  18. r.... ....

One of the first songs sold by Burt Bacharach and Hal David. The background voices and whistles belong to the Ray Conniff Singers and orchestra.

    r.... ....

    Thanks for that info.

    r.... ....

This song was written in 1957 and was the 1st. #1 hit they wrote. It was recorded in the Mitch Miller studio.

    r.... ....

@Margo Mason You are correct. It was Mitch Miller not Ray Conniff.

The 6 people that disliked this video need to be flogged.

    J.... N....

7 now.. public flogging i say!

    J.... N....

Jake Nolen, Ah, don’t worry about them, there were tone deaf people in the 50’s who unfortunately couldn’t enjoy this music either and they had no alternative. Luckily for them in the 80’s, 90’s and so on, house music and drum and bass and rap came along, which had no melody and just a beat, so they could have fun at last also 😉.

  24. J.... C....

I first heard this when I was browsing in an antique mall and the music was piped in through the loud speaker. I tried to remember the title but when I got home I couldn't. It sounded like Marty Robbins and with a little searching I found it. A truly great Marty Robbins song. Thanks for sharing.

Agreed glad grand pa had me lestin to him when I was younger still a Marty robins, sons of the pioneers fan

  31. K.... C....

Saw Burt Bacharach play recently with the Nashville symphony (at age 87!). He said that his first hit actually came out of Nashville and it was this song. His first cut as a writer went all the to #1 on the country charts. To think the guy's career started 60 years with this song. Incredible.

  32. J.... F....

Absolutely love this song! Marty Robbins has a superb voice!

  33. V.... T....

This is the story of mine and my husbands life !

  34. b.... ....

Agree with S.Sprout: never met an M.R. song I didn't like. This is probably my favorite (as hard as it is to choose)

  35. W.... W....

Now that is Talent. Sadly there is so little of it in today's times.

    W.... W....

Hahah you boomers are ridiculous. Your generation is all that’s good and everyone else was terrible at everything.

    W.... W....

Banter Bear, And your generation stands on the shoulders of giants😉.

    W.... W....

doctordonuthin of course we all are, but just because you were into music and grew u[p with it, doesn’t make other musicians terrible. You just have to seek it out, don’t look at the top 40 to find your music look into your genre and your taste, and until you do that don’t pretend like only your generation can make music, that’s the whole problem ppl have with boomers.

  36. S.... S....

I never met a Marty Robbins song I didn't like...Loved his voice..It was silenced to soon.

    S.... S....

    same here a great talent
