Marty Robbins - That Silver Haired Daddy Of Mine Lyrics

In a vine-covered shack in the mountains
Bravely fighting the battle of time
Is a dear one who's weathered life's sorrows
It's that silver haired daddy of mine

If I could recall all the heartaches
Dear old daddy, I've caused you to bear
If I could erase those lines from your face
And bring back the gold to your hair

If God would but grant me the power
Just to turn back the pages of time
I'd give all I own if I could but atone
To that silver haired daddy of mine

But I know it's too late, dear old daddy
To repay for the sorrows and cares
Though dear mother is waiting in Heaven
Just to comfort and solace you there

If I could recall all the heartaches
Dear old daddy, I've caused you to bear
If I could erase those lines from your face
And bring back the gold to your hair

If God would but grant me the power
Just to turn back the pages of time
I'd give all I own if I could but atone
To that silver haired daddy of mine

In Heaven they will be young and in great shape. A clear mind and arms out stretched to greet you and welcome you home to Glory.
No more pain, no more tears, Just the JOY of living FOREVER in Heaven with our Lord and our long lost loved ones. :)
Oh what a day that will be.

My father and I had some pretty rough times with each other. Even to the point that, one day, I really hated him. But, what feels like to be a miracle to me, we were able to make peace and become a real family again. He died highly beloved, and not hated on the first of November 2017- this seems to me to be a happy end!

Came here from Gene Autry’s version. What is going on at 0:56? Sounds like someone started to come in with the wrong words and they didn’t bother with a second take, or something

My grandfather passed away last year. That whole year was hell for me but the lose of my grandfather and my great grandfather. Those broke me. When my dad use to drive a Truck for a living my grandfather would take care of me with my grandmother. I lived probably 20 steeps from my grandparents. I loved them so much. My grandfather taught me so much. How to tie my shoe to how to fish to how to swim. To even try and help me with college even when he forgot most of the stuff from electrical engineering he did. He was such a big part of my life and so was my great grandfather who was a WWII veteran who served in the 17th armor devision. He told me so much about the pain and suffering they all went through and help me fall in love with history. It’s so different with them gone. They both died a few days from each other but just a month apart from each other. But now neither of them suffer anymore. But all I wish I could do was hug both of them just once. One more loving hug from my two bestest friends and loving family members. But I’ll see them some day just when it’s my time. Ready in piece Allen Bryan Freytag and A.B. Freytag. Me and my father miss you greatly.
