Martin, Dean - All In A Night's Work Lyrics

When Paul Revere went riding while the stars were burning bright
It was all it was all it was all in a night's work
When Edison stayed up so late he finally saw the light
It was all it was all it was all in a night's work

And when a girl and fellow get underneath that moon
It's not a long shot you can bet on something happening soon
So when they ask me just how come I came up winning you
Though it took hours of flowers and the wining
and dining and telephone calls to get the pot to perk
I smile and say it was all in a night's work

It was all it was all it was all in a night's work

It was all it was all it was all in a night's work

And when a girl and fellow get underneath that moon
It's not a long shot you can bet on something happening soon
So when they ask me just how come I came up winning you
Though it took hours of flowers and the wining
and dining and telephone calls to get the pot to perk
I smile and say it was
All in a night's work
All in a night's work

I inherited my grandpa's record player. This was one of the 50 records in it. I like it.

i was born in 65 and although very young, i was lucky enough to listen and watch Dean Martin on his weekly show with my parents. Man i miss these guys. Nothing like Dino, the Rat Pack and these songs.

Saw this in a drive-in theater when it first came out. What a rollicking comedy with Dino and Shirley.

It amazes me that this tune doesn't get more attention; it's elegantly performed, perfectly executed, and as catchy as can be! The first time I heard this was on the album "The Rat Pack", a poorly named compilation of MOSTLY individual performances by Sinatra, Davis and Martin (with the exception of the Guys and Dolls numbers). The cover "suggested" that it was performances by the Rat Pack, when the truth was that most of the songs were selections from their individual albums. Having said all that, the single selection that kept me playing the album was "All in a Night's Work", and eventually, I learned to enjoy the entire album, since the songs themselves were fundamentally good to begin with. Despite so many great performances by Dean Martin, this one remains my all-time-favorite, and always puts a smile on my face. Thanks, Dino. You always said, "Drink to Me Only, That's All I Aks . . . Ask". Well, I will drink to . . . . . . you. (How long I been on?)

Robert F. Greene, REALTOR I love this song. I have my teacher to blame on for getting me hooked to the Rat Pack and its members. Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, and Sammy Davis Jr.

Totally Agree, this is a top notch tune and one that captured my ear about 40 years ago. Interestingly it was one that featured on early UK compilations along with Just in Time and i think thats was because of Bernard H Thorpe input and the fact that this song was a hit in the UK
