Marshall Tucker Band, The - Try One More Time Lyrics

My glass is empty, but innocently
Just sittin here thinkin how much you mean to me
Thought about leavin, but you know you're one of a kind
And even though we tried it all
I'd like to try it more time..

Said tonight at the party, you wore your finest dress
You walked around in style lookin so much finer than the rest
And when you walked up to me, Lord
You know I was so proud
And even though we tried it all
I'd like to try it more time..

Marshall Tucker Band, The Try One More Time Comments

As I get older, I return back to the old days, growing up in the 60'sand 70's I don't think I had the maturity to really appreciate those days as I do now. MTB was my first live show, I think maybe I was 14-15 or so. They floored me and still do today. To all you young folk...I may be old, but I got to see ALL the cool bands.

I don't mean no disrespect to Ronnie because he was a Great friend whom I grew up with and yes he would have done a wonderful version of this song, however, this is Doug's and Toy's song , who were great friends as well and this was them to a tea!!! There song and no one else's and Ronnie would be the first to say it!!

Thanks for sharing these great songs. "Where We All Belong" became my favorite album of 1974 back when I had not yet turned 20, and the live version of "24 Hours At a Time" on this vinyl, later CD, remains one of my all-time favorite songs.

Bought it in '74 and it forever changed my musical outlook. !6 year old wannabe musician, this album inspired me more than any other. This was in a time of heavy metal, 2nd British invasion etc., which I also enjoyed, but MTB well and truly spoke to me, thank you for posting, this is my fave cut.

  12. K.... O....

For some reason, when I listen to this, I hear Ronnie Van Zant singing it.  Beautiful from start to finish.
