I didn't like any of their songs first time i heard them, but their one of my favorite bands. I bought all the albums some twice because the CD got lost, stolen, or scratched up. That was over 10 years ago when I was in high school and I'm still listening.

I love TMV. Favorite band ever. I miss this band, and I will forever come back to their amazing style of music. I absolutely love Cedric Bixler Zavala. His voice takes me places. Eargasm.

I'll I say it. I think that The Mars Volta or rather Cedric and Omar were addressing a position stemming from ugly US immigation policies and how that reflects on all of society. Other songs they write are about other things.

One of my best friends introduced me to them years ago. About a year ago, they decided that I was no longer worth their time. ZERO explanation as to why! They just completely changed.... this song reminds me of that sadly

Elizabeth Lopez woah, I don’t think it’s that personal. They did what they wanted, and I applaud them for that alone. I think it’s important that artists are authentic.

For what it's worth, the exact same thing has happened to me not one but several times. It's certainly taken a toll on my general happiness and openness but I guess it's one of those things we need to accept whether or not we understand them.

I know that feeling. Of my 6 best friends from high school, 2 are dead, 1 moved away, and 2 of them did the same thing you describe here. Only have 1 left from those days now. Getting old sucks.

I saw the beginning of the band and they accompanied me over many years. Their music has inspired me , touched my soul and gave me power in many lonely moments of my life ... But when they went , I was not sad but glad about their music they left behind and the years that were me their music a good companion and friend ... I thank you for that!

had i not actually bought the "Frances the Mute" album... i would not have forced myself to listen to it after deciding i didnt like it.... what a tragedy that would have been for my teenage self.... this band opened doors in my mind that i didn't even know were there.

Clever Metaphor this happened to me but with Coheed's Silent Earth 3. A local radio station gave it to me and I hated every song except "Favor House Atlantic". Thankfully I forced myself throughout that year to listen to the whole thing.

All their albums were brilliant. This unfortunately followed their best album in Bedlam in Goliath, although most people would say Deloused or Frances was their best. Who knows?

Other way around. The Mars Volta was totally Omar's thing, he wrote all the songs just like his solo stuff. The Mars Volta is the "rock band" friendly version of the Omar Rodriguez-Lopez group

This song is absolutely heartbreaking now that they're broken up

Completely differente song styles, cant say one is better than the other. This song is beautiful and melodic, Scissor is powerful and energetic, you cant just compare a ballad to post hardcore punk.

TMV is Omars best fit he just doesnt realize it. ATDI was a great band also on certain songs. They just need to realize when they are making music that is good like Francis and Deloused and when they are making music that is downhill and boring like this song.. Sleepy. Compaire this song to "One Armed Scissor"... Its pretty obvious that "Scissor" is the better song it doesn't take a Genius.

I love The Mars Volta. They are easily, and by far, my favorite band. And they have been for years. But their videos are fucking terrible. I get that they don't want to make a standard music video, but seriously... they need to work on their videos. Because this is awful. That said, I'm not the one and only jackass that disliked this video.
