Mars Volta, The - Noctourniquet Lyrics

Make my bed in droughts of beryl
I haven't shot this thing in years
Do you think I'll fold?

Calloused hands of detriment
From a crossbow flinch of gasping air
Do you think I'll...

So long, don't fall apart
The words have made a perfect burden

Sewn along your hollow heart
We'll never hassle you

Remember at the hips where we once joined
Severed by the scalpel when we were young
Do you think I'll fold?

Held under the water in a blacklist trough
Buried in the plots of your front steps
Do you think I'll fold?

Incinerate the faith that you were taught
Incinerate your crown of useless flesh
Do you think I'll...

So long, don't fall apart
The words have made a perfect burden

Sewn along your hollow heart
We'll never hassle you

And if this life belonged to me
you can stop the rain from falling

Tie it on in your mind
Its your noctourniquet

And in your fight to live and breathe
Then you keep it to the night

Tie it on in your mind
Its your noctourniquet

Made my bed in droughts of beryl
I haven't shot this thing in years
Do you think I'll fold?

Your color seems to flower from your hissing tongue
Your livery of siblings cut from saffron cloth
Do you think I'll fold?

I'll reach out through the pavement with the shortest straw
Lavera, don't play in your mother's drawer
Do you think I'll fold?

Come hasten to the first drop of endless flasks
Heretics and peasants with a quench forboding
Do you think I'll...

So long, don't fall apart
The words have made a perfect burden

Sewn along your hollow heart
We'll never hassle you

So long, don't fall apart
The words have made a perfect burden

Sewn along your hollow heart
Whatever one takes, whatever one takes for you

Mars Volta, The Noctourniquet Comments
  1. J.... R....

    This song sucks ass

  2. E.... ....

    I'M A LEMON, I'M A LEMON, SO DON'T YOU STEP ON ME

  3. A.... S....

I actually love the chorus. Is there some frequency in it I'm just not affected by?

  4. Z.... T....

    Lyrics:

    [Verse 1]
When you leave the night on
    Contagions bind your double speak
Malice tends to choke my father's grip
But his hands are always clean
    Walk towards the light
    Convalesce your fetish in me
    You make me older
    Swatting flies in the Vaseline

    [Pre-Chorus 1]
    I'm not getting any better
In this plot of dormant wakes
    The thorns decipher, speak serrated
From the figure of an eight

    [Chorus]
That's when I disconnect from you
That's when I disconnect from you
That's when I disconnect from you
    That's when I disconnect

    [Verse 2]
    No turning back now
Too many shovels past the Rubicon
    Must I desecrate it?
Why can't you tell me where you've gone?
    Christened to die
    Paranoia has hoaxing device
    Just when I find out
Moira draws the moth to fire

    [Pre-Chorus 2]
There the bluest burn of spirits
    Draws the stem of hyacinth
You will hardly ever hear it
    Because the muzzle always fits

    [Chorus]
That's when I disconnect from you
That's when I disconnect from you
That's when I disconnect from you
    That's when I disconnect

    [Bridge]
I am a land mine, I am a land mine
So don't you step on me, so don't you step on me
Cause I'm a land mine, cause I'm a land mine
And I can blossom in the petals of an E.C.T

    [Chorus]
That's when I disconnect from you
That's when I disconnect, disconnect, from
That's when I disconnect from you
That's when I disconnect, disconnect, from

  5. S.... S....

I would have to agree with some of you here. The chorus seems to be just a bit of an over-attempt to be weird or complex, but still a good and interesting song.

  6. C.... R....

That chorus synth bass... hmm. It'snot entirely unlistenable but I'll be damned if I ever expected it.

  7. L.... M....

aCTUALLY ANYONE GET dOPEHAT BY mARYLIN MANSON OUT OF THE SYNTH?!

  8. C.... O....

The chorus is a acquired taste lol

  9. B.... E....

FUCK YOU, OMAR RODRIGUEZ LOPEZ!!! YOU RUINED ONE OF THE BIGGEST BANDS!!!

  10. A.... W....

That saw synth in the chorus is physically unlistenable to me, it literally makes me feel a little bit sick. Shame because it's a great song.

    A.... W....

that's sort of the aesthetic they were going for I think

    A.... W....

Best part of the track my friend

    A.... W....

    Not everyone can handle awesome.

  11. G.... G....

I swear that synth line during the chorus is brilliant it hits so hard and I love it

  12. T.... ....

I love how all-over-the place the time signatures are, especially the drums. It's somewhat unsettling the first few listens, but it's nothing short of genius.

    T.... ....

this album definitely grows on you over time

    T.... ....

@Dozo agreed... I have been a volta fan for years... all of their albums took me some time to truly appreciate... this on in particular... but now I feel it in my bones and just let the music take me wherever it goes... I use to skip several of the tracks, but now I just let the album go and enjoy the ride

    T.... ....

@Taz Mariah same. This was the record that turned me on. Then i had to sort of reverse -explore their entire catalogue. Dang. well, it was fun.

    T.... ....

    @Filip Martin worth it

  13. O.... O....

This song is genius.. I freakin love the Mars Volta man

  14. J.... G....

I love this band but this song is honestly trash.

    J.... G....

@olden creek But there is a serious difference between what you feel about something, which is subjective, and the actual sounds being produce in some form, which is objective. There is an objective difference in the sounds of any of the songs from any of the albums, especially if you chose songs from any of the albums then make a mixtape. If you cannot hear differences in styles then you must not pay much attention all too much. I suspect that you are confusing timbre with style, because Cedric's voice is very recognizable. Also I said distinguish not abandon.

    J.... G....

    @Sam Bower
Oh, okay. So maybe what I should've said was that the timbre of the buzzing of this song sounds like a rap song, and then the timbre of his voice sounds like someone getting puffed up. Gotcha.

    J.... G....

@olden creek No, I'm telling you that the Mars Volta has a distinguishing sound so that you can tell that it's them aka timbre, but style is different. Style has its own specific timbre spread out across multiple bands and time so that it can be recognized and categorized.
I don't have a problem with you disliking the song, at least you can tell someone why you don't like the song other than just saying it's "trash" with no explanation.

    J.... G....

olden creek expecting something from TMV goes against their entire nature. Volta means change.

    J.... G....

olden creek i only hear a bit of zeppelin on certain tracks from Frances and Octahedron. Nothing else.

  15. N.... ....

    Ahhh I love it

  16. J.... S....

when did mars Volta start doing dubstep

    J.... S....

    Zerockar since this album

    J.... S....

    ITS NOT DUBSTEP

    J.... S....

i dont think you know what dubstep is

  17. D.... T....

I swear something about the cedric's voice in the chorus reminds me of alice in chains.

    D.... T....

    Lol, "The Cedric"

    D.... T....

Drop Therapy love for Alice in chains and Cedric!😎 May real music live forever!

  18. B.... ....

The chorus only becomes tolerable over time. The other parts are where this song really shines.

    B.... ....

Ozzie Pants fuck you dude. Listen to something else

    B.... ....

Chorus is the best part silly lol

    B.... ....

    Opposite here

    B.... ....

In great art the ugliest part is where the most meaning is buried. (An idea by G.I. Gurdjieff) . of course if ugly enough it may take a bit or right moment to break away to beauty or truth. My opinion is that the chorse here is a masterful stroke of the pin, but at some other moment who knows how I'd feel about it.

  19. C.... I....

this shit sounds like pink floyd at times

    C.... I....

Cultof Ian they are heavily influenced by pink floyd
