Marley, Bob - 400 Years Lyrics
400 years (400 years, 400 years. Wo-o-o-o)
And it's the same -
The same (wo-o-o-o) philosophy
I've said it's four hundred years;
(400 years, 400 years. Wo-o-o-o, wo-o-o-o)
And the people they (wo-o-o-o) still can't see.
Why do they fight against the poor youth of today?
And without these youths, they would be gone -
All gone astray
Come on, let's make a move:
(make a move, make a move. Wo-o-o-o, wo-o-o-o)
I can (wo-o-o-o) see time (wo-o-o-o) - time has come,
And if-a fools don't see
(fools don't see, fools don't see. Wo-o-o-o)
The youth (wo-o-o-o) is gonna be strong.
So, won't you come with me;
I'll take you to a land of liberty
Where we can live - live a good, good life
And be free.
Look how long: 400 years, (400 years, 400 years) -
Way too long! (wo-o-o-o)
That's the reason my people (wo-o-o-o) - my people can't see.
Said, it's four hundred long years - (400 years, 400 years. Wo-o-o-o)
Give me patience (wo-o-o-o) - same philosophy.
It's been 400 years, (400 years, 400 years)
Wait so long! Wo-o-o-o, wo-o-o-o.
How long? 400 long, long years. [fadeout]

The 400 Year Prophecy: 1619-2019
Genesis 15: 13-14 (also cross-reference Congress Bill H.R.1242)
"And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years; And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance."
Negroes who were enslaved and scattered across the four corners of the Earth by way of slave ships are the true children of Israel that you read about in the Bible. Deuteronomy 28: 15-68 describes the curses that befell the real Hebrews for breaking Yah's covenant; Psalm 83 details how the nations conspired to hide our true identity; and Joel chapter 3 describes what will happen to the other nations who sold and scattered the children of The Most High. Shalom.
Well damn not to be that guy. But Bob and Peter were a lot more free than me with the success of their bands lol, we're all pawns of the game.
Recordemos al más grande 400 años
are we free yet?
Peace n love , love yall
This is Wailer's group version. And the best.
Brasil 2018
SUPERIOR VERSION

Peter QUE??????? BOB MARLEY YA
marf quien canta?
1619 + 400 years = 2019. Slavery is almost over, Yashaya is coming to save His people from Babylon (America).
Check your "BIRTH" certificate. The system as it is, is no longer slavery but voluntary servitude. Ratification!! Through signing adhesion contracts put in front of us, we ratified our own position into servitude.
REAL cute. Read Gen:15 13-14. Or don't speak on things you don't understand crazy bald head.
hello guys, I'm looking for this version on vinyl, but I'm keep finding the quick version which I don't like. Does anybody know which one has this? African Herbsman does not. Maybe an earlyer press? Or Catch a Fire?
hangoszto The Catch a Fire album
this song is about Jamaica but it relevant to the whole world. The same colonial philosophy
1616-2016 , we almost there my bretten :)
i was 14 in 1984 and i don't speack english, "and i'm white"! This song is so amazing
Killer bass line...
Same ediot trying to screw up the drums on this track. Coot your timing sucks.
This is what it sounds like on the Catch A Fire album.
The first Hebrew slaves(Tribe of Judah) were brought to America in 1619. Yah told Abram that his seed would be oppressed and enslaved in a land that is not theirs for 400 YEARS. 1619+400=2019....all praise to Yah

Deut 28:68 PROPHECY OF OUR CURRENT SLAVERY
And the LORD shall bring thee into Egypt(bondage) again with ships, by the way whereof I spake unto thee, Thou shalt see it no more again: and there ye shall be sold unto your enemies for bondmen and bondwomen, and no man shall buy you.
This is talking about us returning into a long enslavement for a second time.
You need to read a book by Rudolph Windsor called,
"From Babylon to Timbuktu."
greatwhitebuffaloman You do realize there were slaves in South America and the Caribbean before 1619
X Campbell specifically the United States
+greatwhitebuffaloman then how do you explain this

Peter Tosh the best vocalist of all times.
Back to our early Wailers catalog. Covering the famous Catch A Fire sessions, we now come to two Peter Tosh led songs: 400 Years and Stop That Train. As we have seen in our survey ,both have been previously recorded by the Wailers with Peter singing lead. 400 Years was a Lee Perry production around November 1970 and Stop That Train was a Leslie Kong production from May 1970. Here the tempo is slower and very appealing and Peter turns in an excellent performance as usual. 400 Years was the third song on Catch A Fire L.P.
the way this song starts off is so tough
Joshua Hughey Yes it does. This is a rough album, remnant of the Lee "Scratch" Perry era
@PAISLEY PRINCESS Check out the 8-track version on the Deluxe CD release of this album. No horns, synths or wah wah, pure Jamaican soul music. It was doctored to be made palatable to the white hippy record buyers of the time.
@Brian Smith can you share a link buddy?
@Brian Smith second that, where can we find this record pls!!

This version is shit because of the percussion played in the backgroung, I see why this version hasnt been taken down...
400 years and it's the same philosophy
Peter Tosh
*You can know that all great inspired music comes from a universal mind, an outside influence, because if it didn't, the musicians that wrote the classic songs in the past would still be writing classic songs now. A few are, but most aren't.*

Nice, oh God!
This Peter Tosh.Это Питер Тош
A lot of ppl don't know there's 3 versions of the Wailers, this recording was them as The Wailers, could've even been during the time Bob had left the group nd moved to Florida, before this they were the Wailing Wailers, during the Ska nd Rock Steady eras, then about 72-73 after Peter nd Bunny left, the band became Bob Marley nd The Wailers, labels looking to capitalize on Bob's stardom throws his face on everything having to do with the band b/c he's the most popular of the 3
+shonha1 You can hear it isn't the period of time when Bob wasn't with them as you can hear him on the backing vocals.
shonha1 thanks
shonha1 Bob Marley is saying the ahhhh ahhhh part to express his pain for slavery in Jamaica
There is some extra percussion that is overdubbed or something and it is ruining my pot buzz.
oh man peter tosh what a voice x
Amazing song
One of the most powerful songs ever composed. Good job Peter Tosh.
Peter Tosh
THE WAILERS!
exactly. jesus said so and so did the apostle John. He who loves is a child of god and the love of God dwells in him. Of course God isn't her name but were not really supposed to use it. Its beyond human comprehension how holy and true and loving Yah is.
PETER TOSH!!
n the wailers
Quem ouviu uma interferência no som dá um joinha.
400 years (400 years, 400 years)
And it's the same -
The same philosophy
I've said it's four hundred years;
(400 years, 400 years)
Look, how long
And the people they still can't see.
Brilliant....RIP Peter Tosh!
I am sorry, but I completely disagree with this comment.
opression never stops untill repression of love is folded back into money ..
It's allway's fooled around the same with this bloods and game ..
you cant do that .without putting love before money
Words and symbols have no more power than we allow them to have my friend. I hate that word, but I don't let it bother me because I know that it doesn't define or describe me in any way.
Man...listen to Bob and Bunny on those background vocals. They flow so beautifully next to Peter's incredible and strong voice. This song is about one of the worst crimes in the history of humanity and yet their beautiful voices, without anger, bring you to a powerful realization how important that part of history is. "And it's the same, the same philosophy". Try listen to the song 2x in a row. Once focussing on Peter's lines, then the background.
but i never used it. i was only pointing out the irony of a complainer creating the things he's complaining about; the irony of you perpetuating racism by trying to be anti-racist. its epic lawls really it is. but yea man, go fight the good fight brother lolollll!!!
i spoke of the use of the word. maybe you should examine how you used it.
Dumb ass
Before the song started I looked at the name and knew it would be deep
this is my shit!
hay otra bercion masss chingona
I hear ya, i was just pointing out the fact that it's actually Peter that sings this song not Bob. I've noticed alot of people making that assumption, i guess they just don't really follow reggae music or aren't follow Marley's jams that much or else they'd know.
peter tosh is with the wailers.. and the artist is bob marley & the wailers..
i love this, such an amazing song, shame music nowadays is getting shitter by the minute, we need to hear more music like Bob, love you forever man
THIS IS PETER TOSH NOT BOB!!
Four hundred years...
peter tosh legend!!!
I always think that´s unfair for the band to have called Bob Marley and the Wailers, and in this song we can clearly see why, Bob Marley was not the only genius on this group
This is The Wailers, because Tosh's in lead vocals.
Powerful.
make a move make a move
you don't have to be a certain type of person to listen to this...
wish i had a fat joint right now
AMAZING....!!!!
great song by the wailers...... pete tosh is genius
and people, ma people cant see!
amo los telcados de esta cancion / i love the keyboards of this song
