I love Willy DeVille and I especially love Mark Knopfler, but the thing that makes this video hilarious for me is all the extra musicians sitting around on set doing exactly nothing: except for Mark's guitar parts, the entire score (including this song) was played by one guy, Mark's longtime collaborator Guy Fletcher, on keyboard synths. There were no real strings or horns to be heard anywhere; I have no idea why there are some guys with acoustic instruments just sitting around the video with nothing to do.

2 years ago I watched the Princess Bride and was blown away at the end of the movie with this song and the beautiful voice. At age 72 I found my new Idol and was crushed to learn he was no longer with us. I sing this song on occasions to introduce Willy to others.

Trina, other than Warren Zevon, Willy was probably the most underrated artist of his generation in my opinion. The saddest part is that you can't even download his full catalog of songs on itunes. I actually have ordered some of his stuff from Europe. Shame. And yes, it still saddens me that he died the way he did. :-(
