Mark Knopfler - My Heart Has Never Changed Lyrics
My car’s in for a brake job
Be ready in a while
Something about the waitress
Made me think about your smile
I tip her a ten spot
I’m just an old long hauler
A grinder at the game
Heaven knows the highways
Since we’ve been apart
But my heart don’t feel like leaving
Or you won’t leave my heart
Now and then I might take
A little something for pain
But there’s nothing much for heartache
My heart has never changed
Now there’s no more rough and tumble
Down Highway 199
Nothing lasts forever
I just miss it sometimes
She comes to pour more coffee
But it’s time to see more world
I pick up my check and keys
And go and pay the girl
My mind’s in Hell’s Half Acre
And the rooms along Exchange
And the scenes are always shifting
But my heart has never changed
My heart has never changed

Mark Knopfler My Heart Has Never Changed Comments
What a beautiful song, and what a beautiful voice.
One of the reasons I´ve bought the MK´s Deluxe Editions
My car’s in for a brake job
Be ready in a while
Something about the waitress
Made me think about your smile
I tip her a ten spot
And I try to read her name
I’m just an old long hauler
A grinder at the game
Heaven knows the highways
Since we’ve been apart
But my heart don’t feel like leaving
Or you won’t leave my heart
Now and then I might take
A little something for pain
But there’s nothing much for heartache
And my heart has never changed
My heart has never changed
Now there’s no more rough and tumble
Down Highway 199
Nothing lasts forever
I just miss it sometimes
She comes to pour more coffee
But it’s time to see more world
I pick up my check and keys
And go and pay the girl
My mind’s in Hell’s Half Acre
And the rooms along Exchange
And the scenes are always shifting
But my heart has never changed
My heart has never changed
Tonight I listen to this song and think of a love that hasn't extinguished and never will. Even these years later. It's missed and it's tough being without it.
Thanks a lot Pedro for sharing this beautiful song ! I really like Mark K. !

Very similar to "Get Lucky"
First time listening to this song I had it on in the background while doing work not really paying attention to the words. That was until the 'nothing lasts forever' part. I had to rewind and listen to that part again cause it hit me like bricks. Thank you for writing this beautiful song that I'm sure will be near to many people's hearts.
Same for me my friend! What a song!
brilliant as usual
Lovely music!
MK... Another superb tale from the Maestro
I adore Mark knopfler...this is a favorite. ..
His guitar work...always haunting...that beautiful deep voice...sigh..
on what cd can I find this song?
This is from the Tracker album. But in the normal cd you won't find it, since it´s a bonus track.
I know since I of course have the Tracker Album on cd. Still, do you know how I can get the cd with bonus tracks?
nice song.
One of my fav songs. EVER!
"Nothing lasts forever, I just miss it sometimes" (in my case I miss it all the time) - no truer words spoken
It's a heart-breaking line. For me, one of his best songs. I love the imagery, the story telling and the mixture of hope and sadness.
@Dunderhead the storytelling is one only mark can do. Amazingly beautifull.. haunting.. sad but true at the same time
Yes, indeed.
