Mark Knopfler - Miss You Blues Lyrics

Miss you blues, baby, miss you blues
Miss you blues, baby, miss you blues
You never used to look behind you, that isn't what you'd do
Didn't leave a thing behind you but the miss you blues

Who's gonna take your place, fill your shoes?
Who's gonna take your place, fill your shoes?
You never used to look behind you, that isn't what you'd do
Didn't leave a thing behind you but the miss you blues

Miss you blues, baby, miss you blues
Miss you blues, baby miss you blues
You never used to look behind you, that isn't what you'd do
Didn't leave a thing behind you but the miss you blues

Walk alone down the avenue
Walk alone down the avenue
You never used to look behind you, that isn't what you'd do
Didn't leave a thing behind you but the miss you blues

Miss you blues, baby, miss you blues
Miss you blues, baby, miss you blues
You never used to look behind you, that isn't what you'd do
Didn't leave a thing behind you but the miss you blues

with regards to a story on the song. every one has it's own story. it's whatever you want it to be. we all relate to a song in one way or another.

i'm curious to know the story behind this song....voice seems its in pain.

if you have listened to mark knopfler through the years from dire straits to now his solo work you'd realise he doesn't have the greatest singing voice. undoubtedly his guitar playing is far from painful. one of the greatest. appreciate his music not question it.

@Lee Simpson I love his voice...to me he has one of the greatest singing voices. And I'm pretty sure that the person you responded to wasn't insulting his voice, but saying that in this song, Mark's voice is expressing pain (not that his voice is painful to listen to).

    V.... V....

He wrote from a broken marriage, some of his most beautiful songs ever.

I like his voice better now. I find the darker undertone in his voice as he aged to be beautiful, soothing actually. His songwriting skills also seem to get better and better every album.

There were times when I loved MK for his bandana. There were many times I loved for his guitar. His song writing has continued to work its magic on me till date. Now I admire the way he has aged. He has almost become like a maudlin. Incoherent at times, intentionally restraining his skills in many songs. Refusing to smile or emote. Its almost as if he lost something that he could never recover. The pain in his voice is obvioous. Wierdly, I like that, his refusal to come to terms with this age.
