There is a beautiful young lady on the Howie Carr show named Grace Curley, soon to be married. This song just makes me think of her. I've missed life completely. She is 31 years my junior. I have never dated, let alone married. Along comes a girl that completely steals my heart for whom I am completely (like all women) disqualified. In another life, another time, if I could have been born talented, gifted, skilled, handsome, etc.- perhaps, just perhaps, she could have ben mine.

Some other people alluded to this as well, but I could loop this song and listen to it all day long without getting tired of it. I can’t say this about anyone else besides Mark Knopfler. I was very fortunate to have seen him four times live, twice with Dire Straits and twice on his own. Four memorable evenings that enriched my life. He truly is a treasure.

This should've been charting top 40 , just shows how much music has been in rapid decline . I'm sorta glad it didn't because it makes it ultra cool alternative music these days

It seems there are times I cannot say enough about this man's music.  But then I listen to another one of his songs and I find the words.  His music moves me miles without my having to move an inch.   Much admiration and respect for both Mark and his band.   I think they tend to be forgotten.   They contribute to the incredible music he creates.  He has surrounded himself with the best of the best and you can hear it in every song the perform.

bluesy half hoarse voiced...speaking from a generation to the universe...with supreme guitar and other instruments, and soul and heart fel;t and intellectual lyrics, about topics we relate too... heartache, loss, first love, last love, lost love.... yeah...i think its safe to say mark is in my top 5 artists of all time. oh...and he honored Bod Dyland...so, theres that. :)

What's interesting about Mark is, you start listening to a song and you think "I've heard this one before," but then you realize it's a completely new song. He really has a deep well of creativity.

yes the melody is a classic song. it is up and down on the guitar neck and the few same chords repeating, with an etching of picking wonderful wave like flows of music. it sounds

like so many other songs you may have heard before, because it is. its basic and thats the wonder of mark knopfler to take a classic melody and transform it into a masterpiece of his making that we need and love.

I don't agree BUT over time Mark's songs work on you. My favorites change all the time. For some reason this one was in my head tonight so I fired up the PC and play along and sing it. So many he pas produced its amazing.

good music but the riff is too repetitive and looks very much like the sequence of sos chords , d min , bem b , c ...

Good music BUTT! (insert two ass cheeks here). Too much d minor with a suspended chord that doesn't quite sequence with a diminished, and overall sucks when you suspend a 7th. Apart from that, a god song. Geesh!
