Marillion - White Russian Lyrics
Where do we go from here?
Where do we go from here, where do we go from here
Where do we go from here, where do we go from here
They boarded up the synagogues, Uzis on a street corner
You can't take a photograph of Uzis on a street corner
Surface scratched where the needles play, Uzis on a street corner
Where do we go from here
Terror in Rue de St. Denis, murder on the periphery
Someone else in someone else's pocket
Christ knows I don't know how to stop it
Poppies at the cenotaph, the cynics can't afford to laugh
I heard in on the telegraph there's Uzis on a street corner
The more I see, the more I hear, the more I find fewer answers
I close my mind, I shout it out but you know it's getting harder
To calm down, to reason out, to come to terms with what it's all about
I'm uptight, can't sleep at night, I can't pretend everything's all right
My ideals, my sanity, they seem to be deserting me
But to stand up and fight I know we have six million reasons
They're burning down the synagogues, Uzis on a street corner
The heralds of the holocaust, Uzis on a street corner
The silence never louder than now, how quickly we forgot our vows
This resurrection we can't allow, Uzis on a street corner
Where do we go from here, where do we go from here
We buy fresh bagels from the corner store
Where swastikas are spat from aerosols
I sit in the bar sipping iced White Russian
Trying to score but nobody's pushing
And everyone looks at everyone's faces
Searching for signs and praying for traces of a conscience in residence
Are we sitting on a barbed wire fence
Racing the clouds home, racing the clouds home
We place our faith in human rights
In the paper wars that tie the red tape tight
I know that I would rather be out of this conspiracy
In the gulags and internment camps frozen faces in nameless ranks
I know that they would rather be standing here besides me
Racing the clouds home, racing the clouds home
You can shut your eyes, you can hide it away it's gonna come back another day
Racing the clouds home, are we racing the clouds home
Racing the clouds home

Marillion White Russian Comments
Fish THE BEST!!!
A Masterpiece really . Historical, Alchoholical, and in 1987 this album came out and finished Fish with Marillion , at least I was lucky enough to see/ hear this played live at Aylesbury Christmas 86 - what a fuckin gig, Fish was the master of poets such a shame in these days we have not got the great poetic meaningful true to life performers of yesterday
Great Album 🎶🎸
White Russian... I'll be Incommunicado...
I heard Sinatra calling me down through the floor boards.
The younger generation really have missed out ...Marillion ( with fish ) took us to the most beautiful places imaginable
Belo vocal do Fish.... Marillion eterno!
Oh no, I'm the like 666. Coincidence???

Sensacional
Perfect song with an important message. THIS RESURRECTION WE CAN'T ALLOW! Fascism must NOT prevail!
Lyrically seen this song looks partly written in the writing sessions for the Fugazi-album but wasn't finished until the Clutch-sessions. The Clutching At Straws-album was tremendously troublesome for Marillion and some songs got replaced, either by order of recordcompany EMI or by Marillion themselves because of artistical disagreements within the band. I wonder if White Russian was also a 'replacement song' like 'Just For The Record' and 'Incommunicado' were...??? Originally songs like 'Exile on Princes Street', 'Beaujolais Days', 'Sunset Hill', 'Shadows On The Barley' plus a few more tracks should have been on the original Clutch-album, but now got added as previously unreleased bonustracks (extra CD) on the remastered 2 Disc-version which came years later in 1999 after which Fish had already left Marillion for more than 10 years. In 2013 a reprint of the Clutch-album came out & that included the song 'Going Under', yet this song was not included on either the original album version or the remastered 2-disc version. Frankly you could say that this album finally got finished in 2013 instead of 1987, 26 years later and 25 years after Fish's departure from the band...!!!

Added for accuracy: "Going Under" was included on the original CD pressing of the album AND the 1999 remaster. It was only cut from the original vinyl release. In fact, the 1999 remaster includes both the original version of "Going Under" on the album disc and an extended mix on the bonus disc!
Going under is by far the weakest track Fish Marillion line up recorded...
Pour moi, cet album est un diamant brut.
Uma das melhores musicas do marillion, meu album preferido, Fish era muito dramático nas musicas e ninguém se iguala a ele nos anos 80.

and the lyrics don`t cut it either
Hey! Hogarth is a great singer and lyricist as well, there is no need to compare them, both are legends.
Not anyone could be marillion's lead singer...
met him 2011 in kosovo
I miss fish
He is not dead.
@Jacob Kauffman but we still miss him
Only, only Marillion with Fish I Am accepted.
Zgadzam się w 100%. Ostatnia płyta z Fishem. Bez niego to już nie Marillion.
Krzysztof Wisniewski nie pierdol!
Such a brilliant under rated song & album.
Under rated? It is considered one of the best.
this band rocks. They remind me of old Genesis. Fish has awesome vocals. Not commercialized!
I sing but i'm really praying for Paris.........
Marillion 1981 - 1987 : a message, a great poet songwriter, great keyboards, great guitars.

Fish traz um lirismo que contagia. Voz soverba!
Great voice? Um, no. Great lyricist, yes.
27 years old this year and still eerily accurate. Could be overwhelmingly depressing if one didn't have hope....
Though to be honest, Fish's first solo record and his works with Steven Wilson are awsome, I recomend them to any and all the fans of the classic Marillion
That exists? An amazing prog rock artist with an amazing prog artists/one of the best prog rock producers/masterers too?
Best Marillion Album, best Fish Album, a clasic
first marillion song i ever heard. it's beautiful.
MARILLION THE FISH YEARS - FACEBOOK
Geniaal- genious
just a superb song from perhaps the greatest songwriter of his generation....
Glad I wasn't the only one that caught that.
as a jewish israeli girl, the sentance "But to stand up and fight I know we have six million reasons" is so strong for me
This song is really touching. So powerful
For some reason, my car radio has the drums REALLY loud on this song...but it's awesome, because Ian KILLS this fucking song!
@UrsusBavaricus Always seems to be the way of it. Same happened with Genesis and Peter Gabriel. So much drama in the music industry a lot of the time. Amazing songs come out of it though.
@Fj00b = Thanx for Upload !
@FISH + MARILLION = Don´t matter got ORIGINAL at Home = LP+CD
What a Band-what a Music-What a Song !!!
This Song formed my Character to be "good" every Day !!!
I am so lucky to know this Song !
Greetings from Bosnia.
heavyjasse hi bro bosnia for ever
one of their best pity it mite come true happen before
WITF was I rambling on a week ago? As I said elsewhere, this song is the BEST on the album from a strictly prog point-of-view. With all the great mood changes, esp. at the "buy fresh bagels" bridge, this song has one of the best and strongest ethereal endings, with the musical-box finish as a real wonder! An awesome song from the Fish-era Marillion repertoire...
Fish on vocals, Kelly on keys and Rothery on electric guitar. So many songs on this great album in which they all shine!
