Marillion - Trap The Spark Lyrics

The love that pounds your heart through your chest every night
Until the bed jumps beneath you and scares you white

Trap the spark and hold it there
You can't. You can't
Goose-bumps that don't fade away
They can't remain

I've opened the box and I've touched the treasures of the earth
They're buried on the island far away
And I'm here in England with the map burning my pocket
Dreaming of diamonds..
Such a blinding secret to bear.

Trap the spark and hold it there
You can't . You can't.
Goose-bumps that don't fade away
They can't remain
Hold the perfect moment
Pin the cloud to the sky
Grab the spark and hold it
You can TRY..

I've looked into a million laughing unhappinesses
In every bar and on the TV
But I know the real thing
I can remember
I can almost tell you how it is

Trap the spark and hold it there
You can't. You can't
Goosebumps that don't fade away
They can't remain
Photograph a feeling
Pin the cloud to the sky
Trap the spark and hold it
You can try

Trap the spark and hold it there
Grab the spark and hold it there.

The best band in the entire universe played this at the Leicester weekend and it took my breathe away. Just love them.

@Jo Newby Hi🙂Thanks...yes my 21 year daughter (who likes heavy metal stuff...you know the modern stuff with horror videos 🤯) I noticed her adding something onto her playlist the 2nd night I had been playing them non stop after the Leicester weekend🤔asked if she was adding Marillion to her tracklist and she laughed and said "No!"....she was 😂🤣😍 I have now given her a tracklist😀....she'll probably say she wants to come and see them when they're on in Manchester😀.I love the fact my 3 kids( all young adults now) have a wide and varied love of music, heavily influenced by my tastes and are not just into what they grew up listening to.
Yes...Wow Steve Rothery what to say that's not already been said.....Love him! Some of his playing sends me to another level!!!🌈🛸 🌠🔥Hope to see him next time he plays Manchester...no dates for that yet though 🙁
    Thanks for the message 🙂👋

@Starchild Indigo I'm the same about Dan,so pleased hes into some of the marillion stuff. I was kind of worried about Saturday night at the weekend as those were the songs he had never really been introduced too but that ended up being his favourite night and he was asking for the setlist as we left the venue lol. We've brought them up well havnt we! Did you manage to get to RAH at all? It was spectacular. Was supposed to go with my brother but he had a hip operation the day after the concert so my hubby came with me,he likes some of the music but not all. It was a fantastic night and I'm wishing I was going this year.

@Jo Newby Hi🙂...No didn't see them at RAH.Saw them in Manchester Nov.2017 for first time. The weekend at Leicester has totally reinforced the fact they need to be seen many times to get a full appreciation of their back catalogue and in general their talent as musicians and Steve Hogarths great songwriting!
Yes I probably saw you and your son as I always look out for younger people at gigs now to see if there are younger generations that will follow on... as we all get older😥.I noticed a few families with younger kids/teenagers.There was a family sat in front of me the first night with a teenage boy and a little girl aged about 10.My kids have been to a few gigs with me...all of us went to see Santana together on my sons 21st Birthday....it filled my heart with joy💓 to dance with them & see them all dancing and having a great time🙂!!They've been to see The Wall,Roger Waters with me and Eagles, amongst others & less well known artists and bands. The older 2 don't think it's cool anymore to go out with their old mum but at least i still have my youngest to educate in great bands and give her the experience. She's going to Glastonbury this year to see Lauryn Hill Etc.
Did you wish Steve Hogarth Happy Birthday...it's his Birthday today 🙂

@Starchild Indigo Hi again.... you made me laugh there cos I was the same I was looking for younger people and my son definitely was,we did see a few like you said. We went to a gig at Leeds Beckett university a couple of years ago and I was surprised how many younger people were there, found it quite uplifting and encouraging for the future. I personally dont understand how people listen to that screaming music that's all the rage nowadays. Think my son is off to some small festival thing at Leeds some time this year but not sure what kind of music it is.
I've just noticed on Facebook that is Steve hogarth birthday. There seems to be some confusion about his age. Whatever it is he looks bloody lush for it,I've got a real thing for that dark floppy hair and the voice ❤

@Jo Newby According to various sources he's the big 60 today. On google images....he was "pretty" when he was very very young and as he matured he became "Heathcliff handsome" 😍 there's a picture of him in black and white unshaven and with piercing eyes.(reminds me a bit of a young David Essex)If you google... originalsoundtrax typepad.com and scroll down you'll find it....very nice😛💓😀

    Love this...
Just a heartbroken North American here, pouting that they didn't make it to Montreal for a Marillion Weekend this year. But still love the guys anyhow.

  8. P.... B....

The smile of H at around 3:12 when he plays the wrong notes and he looks towards Rothery. Priceless!!

  12. A.... g....

Some people will never bother to listen to the music of Marillion.
I feel sorry for those people.

    A.... g....

@protoman995 Is there another performer outside of H and perhaps Peter Gabriel that put that much emotion into their performances?

  13. P.... S....

When Marillion played this on Saturday night at MW2013 in Montréal, they dedicated it to a lovely couple who were married that afternoon. The concert was their reception... Such an experience.

Dit is zo mooi! Wat hou ik toch van deze band.

    A.... ....

Ik ook. Heb ze allang niet meer gezien. Woon nu in Indonesie. Ik was in Montreal voor het weekend in 2013 en naar Cruise to the Edge 2014. Mijn kinderen vinden het ook mooi :)

    A.... ....
