I always felt like this song was Josh's way of portraying that he felt he couldn't provide what his audience wanted.

"It's no wonder I'm not eating, I'm not sleeping. You say, 'Sing, sing to me, sing me something I need! Sing real, sing good!' God, I wish that I could!"
In this line, it's clear that Josh feels the band's audience wants him to go back to the older, more painful stages in his life just so they can relate. And, feeling conflicted, Josh almost feels like relapse would be a better option.

"All my indecision, all of my excess, don't you ever tell me I'm not lovin' you best."
The former half of this line shows Josh's internal conflict over his own issues. And the latter half showcases that, even if the fans don't feel it, he's trying as hard as he can to deliver what's being requested without relapsing or breaking down.

I just think that's really interesting, and it gives a lot of insight into how hard being an evolving person can be, even outside of the context provided.

+Kieba From what I've read and listening to the song itself, I guess I could see why that's what you think it's about but it's not. I read that it was pretty much what the original person who posted this comment said; they were under a lot of stress to release a good album and really didn't want to release anything just to put it out there because then it wouldn't have any meaning and it would be just a bunch of filler songs. The song is basically him coming to terms with the fact that he can't please everyone while still trying not to let anyone down, including himself. That's what I read.

My interpretation from just listening to it told me that people (whether they be music producers or fans) seemed to be treating him/the band like puppets who only cared about the fact that they are singing/making music but also wanted them to do it well and the way they wanted it done. I could tell in this song he was so stressed from the pressure of needing to sing perfectly that he couldn't sleep or eat. I feel like this and Perfect are very similar in meaning and have great messages but I really don't see how you thought this was about his time in rehad.
