this is a great transition to appreciate opera if you are into the rock or metal genre, the first half is beautiful operatic composure with the second half transforming into a bitching metal remix.

I have loved opera all my life and actually wanted to be an opera singer and I can say, while this may not be the most technically accomplished version of this song it is definitely one of the most beautiful. The passion just come at you in waves, it's the first time in a long time this aria has moved me to tears.

+ManOwaR 712 Lach, hast recht, ist Metal. Hör halt einfach alles, bis auf Bayerische Volksmusik, bzw den Silbereisen-Fischer Summs. Meine Kenntnisse beschränken sich halt auf das spielen von 2 Musikinstrumenten (Gitarre und Klavier), allerdings nur mäßig, und den Besuch h einiger Konzerte (Acdc, Jethro Tull, Kiss, Nazareth, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Queen, Rolling Stones....) sowie ein paar Besuche von klassischen Konzerten, inspiriert auch durch meine Freunde. Mir gefällt Rock, Metal, Jazz, alles auf seine Art. Da kann man schon einmal eher durcheinander kommen, als wenn man nur eine Richtung hört. 😯Was mich an den ganzen Kommentaren hier stört, ist eigentlich weniger, daß ich das Lied total furchtbar finde, da gibt es Schlimmeres, als vielmehr die Tatsache, daß hier oft behauptet wird, dies wäre die beste Version von Nessun Dorma, die es gibt. Wenn dann die Wortwahl kommt, "die ich jemals gehört habe", mag das noch angehen, kennen die halt nichts anderes. Kommt mir zwar etwas populistisch vor, vor einem Publikum, daß von klassischer Musik wenig Ahnung hat, ein Lied mittelmäßig zu singen, um dann sich als Alleskönner feiern zu lassen. Aber vielleicht tue ich dem Sänger da auch unrecht, und er will nur eine andere Facette der Musik mal rüberbringen. So wie Vanessa Mae auch schon Rockmusik auf der Geige spielte, aber nie behauptete, ein Rockstar zu sein. Auf jeden Fall würde das Niveau nicht ausreichen,um an der Oper in München aufzutreten.

Ich kann dir jetzt 1000 gründe aufzählen warum so ein cover sinn macht, da hab ich aber keine Lust zu. wenn du als Erwachsener mann mal dein hirn anstrengen würdest, würdest du da schon selbst drauf kommen. Und ja es gibt Leute diese diese version als die beste beurteilen, (inklusive mir) aber na und? Was interessiert dich deren meinung? Kannst du dir keine eigene meinunh bilden? Da wird schon keiner rumheulen wie du! Geschmäcker sind verschieden, falls du das nicht wusstest.

What a phenomenal voice. I usually think of Manowar as one of the worse metal bands, but this is really nice.

erm.. sorry, no they are not. They had a couple of hit albums in the 90's and headlined a few commercially successful tours of their own in their heydey but the only noteworthy thing they did in last 20 years was re-record Kings Of Metal. Their farewell tour is only a dozen concert dates and its in Germany only. Compare that to Iron Maiden who fly around in their own 747 and have *real world tours* like the Rolling Stones or AC/DC. Not knocking Manowar, they're really talented and wrote some great stuff but their parody\party-metal material only took them so far (and they know it).

thats mean only they are not so much commercial successful... sadly but one of the reason is the y never change theyr style since 80's. so... somebody say thats not good because they are not evolve and blah blah blah but hey fuck off. if you love one of their song you love all of them. its a rare :) sweet mix of power and speed metal as for me this is exactly what true metal must be :)
metallica for example, they have absolutely great songs. like unforgiven is pristine essence of pure awesomness. but i jsut dont like about half of their albums. its alright for commercial because you sell different albums to different peoples and half of someone who not much enjoying with that albut still buy it... so profit. but not that good for me, who love unforgiven and wish all their songs like that, for example :)

so yes, i am manowar fan for decades since i was a 10 years old. but each of their album was exactly what i love. and im sure they care about crowds more then other bands.
i am from russia and in my town good metal bands is rare but i was on few shows of deep purple, scorpions metalica... few more and manowar. and i can say manowar had best show. despite of scorpions was with symphony orchestra...
Joey DeMaio made a speech in russian, nice one i can say, and not just "hello my bros" he spoke for about 10 minutes :) they sing a song on russian, and it was not Father (translated on gazzilion languiges) and not of any of their songs translated, they made metal cover for classic russian romance and it was rely awesome.
and in the end. they are realy skilled artists. joey play bass guitar like no one else before, Eric Adams have awesome voice, you can see that in nessun dorma song. he playing with voice just awesome, can tell a tale with just tone. like um... for example "saddle my horse as i drink my last ale... bow string and steel, will prevail" wen you hear that you just a see a warrior who know he die, accept his fate and will prevail. not because words, but because of voice...
so you can say they are worst. i dont care, everyone have different opinion, for me they are best. but this is not about right to say, they worst because they dont have a show for 5k peoples.

Julia Swallow .. :). Crown and the Ring is an amazing song and Kings of Metal is one of my favorite metal albums. Manowar is an unusual band. They are American band from a small town in New York but make you think they were European based on their medieval lyrics. And they wrote "party band" lyrics too like "Blow your Speakers". I know they still have a very loyal but small following especially in the New York State and Detroit area in the USA and also Germany in Europe. I live in USA but never saw them live, sadly. I have seen Maiden many times and Metallica 5 times (mostly before Black album). I agree with you Metallica "evolved" but not in a nice way - they changed the music to make money for record companies but funny enough Iron Maiden is much more successful today and they did not "sell out" (at least the music is much the same). Manowar made some great music. I still have their first 3 albums on vinyl and CD. I did not mean to sound harsh with comment earlier :). Rock on, friend !
