Manilow, Barry - I Don't Want To Walk Without You Lyrics

I don't want to walk without you , baby
Walk without my arm about you , baby
I thought the day you left me behind
I'd take a stroll and get you right off my mind
But now I find that
I don't want to walk without the sunshine
Why'd you have to turn off all that sunshine
Oh baby, please come back
Or you'll break my heart for me
Cause, I don't want to walk with out you
No siree
I don't want to walk with out you, baby
Walk with out my arm about you , baby
I though the day you left me behind
That I'd take a stroll and get you right off my mind
But now I find
That I don't want to walk with out the sunshine
Why'd you have to turn off all that sunshine
Oh baby, please come back
Or you'll break my heart for me
Cause I don't want to walk with out you
I don't want to walk with out you
No siree

Oops, this is my favorite one Barry‼️ my ultimate dream to sing this with you.... Commented earlier on your happiness with your soul mate.... Where I mistakenly said would love to sing" CAN'T WALK WITHOUT YOU"Rocked all my now adult children to your songs when my first was born in 1971. They all thought your amazing hits were lullaby's. You put my babies to sleep when l was a single mom with three babies. Love your calming voice to this day‼️ Sing on Mr. Manilow and be happy🥇🌟

First published in 1941, Irving Berlin once said that of all the other composer's songs that had been written, this song is the one he would have been most proud of composing himself. Several people recorded this song, but Barry Manilow's cover of it in 1980 is the best to me --- for one very special reason. I met my future wife-to-be in 1978 and dated for two years before we thought of breaking up. When Barry's song was released in 1980, it made me rethink how I really felt about her and.....I realized I couldn't live my life without her! I'll always attribute this song to keeping us together, getting married before God and family, and happily together now for 38 years! Love, love, LOVE this song!

Wow, 145 views and no comments, likes or dislikes? This is one of the best unknown and unpopular songs of Mr. Manilow. Unfortunately, he can't reproduce close to this version when live, or even now as he's aged some. In any case, great song, lyrics included! Thanks for sharing the only studio version I've found in YTB.

This song, music by Jule Styne and words by Frank Loesser, was written for the film Sweater Girl (1941).  It is in the minor key--extremely rare for a pop song.  Manilow's interpretation is excellent; every note is full (no slurs).  Remarkable that it could still be a success in 1980.  The melody was apparently lifted from Mendelssohn.
