I was a busy young mum when this came out. I was so busy all the time that chart music just drifted in the background of my life: in shops, on an unwatched TV in the background.

I noticed this one and never found out what it was. I only found out it was the Manics a couple of weeks ago.

i only know this because when i was still in secondary school my dad was going to see them and his friend let him down so he left me go with him. i remember this so clearly and them playing this first! and that was me in my first gig practically getting crushed as fuck and people fainting nearly haha i was 16 an my dad was buying me pints before the gig haha

Oh Know Your Enemy, such an underrated Manics album. Some absolute gems on it.

I like Ocean Spray and Let Robeson Sing, (and this is good too) but the album is below average for MSP I think

mizofan right on, for me KYE is their most exciting rock’n’roll album, especially the first 4 tracks are among their best ever. Honestly very underrated if only they would still write music from the soul like this or so why so sad instead of the generic arena pop rock they’re putting out nowadays 🙁

@Agent Cooper I miss the Manics from the 90s and KYE had some of their last truly rocking songs.

They had one final comeback with JFPL but after that I don't know what to think of them anymore and I doubt they even know themselves.

It's such a shame but I guess that's what happens when you lose your drive as you hit your 50s.

This song is so f'n awesome! And like the Manics generally, it is so underrated, I mean come on! It's so rock'n roll, love it.

You can tell that James was inspired by Josh Homme for this one. This is the song that primarily taught me the drums, I'd also argue a very underrated song from quite an underrated album (if you forget some of the nonsense on it!)

normally videos that accompany songs me absolutley nothing to me but the manics have a way of making videos with something to say....this one for example comparing kids who read books nowadays to endangered species or evolutionary dead ends. another good one is 'so why so sad' which seems to me to be saying the folks that fought in world wars could never envisage that the freedoms they fought for would end up allowing people to enjoy package holidays while the folks that enjoy the freedom to travel widely will never be able to understand the huge sacrifices those combatants made.
