Manic Street Preachers - Australia Lyrics
I don't know if I'm tired and I don't know if I'm ill
My cheeks are turning yellow
I think I'll take another pill
Praying for the wave to come now
I've been here for much too long
This is the past that's mine
I want to fly and run till it hurts
Sleep for a while and speak no words in Australia
I want to fly and run till it hurts
Sleep for a while and speak no words in Australia
In Australia
Praying for the wave to come now
It's twelve o'clock till midnight
There must be someone to blame
I want to fly and run till it hurts
Sleep for a while and speak no words in Australia
I want to fly and run till it hurts
Sleep for a while and speak no words in Australia
In Australia
Australia, in Australia
I want to fly and run till it hurts
Sleep for a while and speak no words in Australia
In Australia
In Australia
In Australia

Great song
James, Shaun, and Nickys finest moment.

Such a pity that Australia would have been a terrible place for Richie to chose to hide from the bullshit of modern life...
My 1996. favorite song!
Goal of the Month! aaah, the beautiful memories of seeing this live and bouncing like a loon.
My first time on a plane, at 21, alone, to Australia. I listened to this as we were taking off ✈
RENFORD F*****G REJECTS!!!
Renford Rejects
probably their greatest song. possibly the best pop/rock song of all time.
Song is written after Ritchie Edwards disappeared, Nicky wire wanted to just escape to the farthest place. Australia being the farthest place from the Wales & UK... 🇦🇺. So song not directly about Australia. But Nicky's escaped from grief
James dean bradfield said the song was related to sightings of edwards in australia. So. Someone is lying.

Why is this not the Australian national anthem?
@Δ Is The NΔME ha ha no back in the UK they're from a small country that's next to England
Because it's about someone failing to cope with the suicide of one of their best friends and wanting to run away as far as possible.
It's hardly a catchy fucking slogan now, is it!?!
James Meade but what about New South Wales eh?
@Phil Yates yeah I know, but still, whenever I listened to it I always felt hopeful. Maybe it's the counter of the lyrics versus the instruments.
John Farnham - The Voice
Very poignant; from a guy who ran away to Australia
I don't know if I'm tired and I don't know if I'm ill
My cheeks are turning yellow
I think I'll take another pill
Praying for the wave to come now
It must be for the fifteenth time
I've been here for much too long
This is the past that's mine
I want to fly and run till it hurts
Sleep for a while and speak no words in Australia
I want to fly and run till it hurts
Sleep for a while and speak no words in Australia
In Australia
Praying for the wave to come now
It must be for the very last time
It's twelve o'clock till midnight
There must be someone to blame
I want to fly and run till it hurts
Sleep for a while and speak no words in Australia
I want to fly and run till it hurts
Sleep for a while and speak no words in Australia
In Australia

I want to fly and run till it hurts
Sleep for a while and speak no words in Australia

FELLOW AUSSIE MANICS FAN HERE. Love it!
The relevant song for now is *if you tolerate this, then your children will be next* with the Muslims overtaking and for Britain it's about brexit as well.
Half of* the* middle east came in 1 wave.
hannah ...i am from melbourne - and i have every reason to believe this song was written about me
@Tempa T You should see if you can get some of this stuff published. I felt like I was reading Shakespeare or Blake.
Takes me back his one the Manics were one of the most underrated bands in the uk during the `brit pop/indie` era they are still as relevant now as they were back then
gak tau knapa...gue inget banget sisi gelap this song...there are part of dark side in my experiance successfully drew by that song. .he...he...he
boring assembly line faux britpop that only 15 year old girls think are cutting edge and thoughtful... yawn... how do these shit nothing bands get so popular

I tried to get into Australia once, they asked if I had any criminal convictions. I said 'yes, I truly believe shoplifting is a victimless crime'.
One of my friends (pre 9/11) was asked if she had any convictions whilst entering Australia she replied "Didn't realise it was mandatory anymore?"
Dddssssssssssssssss
All of their songs are really awesome!! But did they write a lot of songs from 1997 to 2002? I knew much of them a few days when i was hearing the song : (If you tolerate this then your children will be next) The fist time i listened it was in 2004 or 2005 and i thought it was a classic video from 80's Until i realized it was in 1998 so i appreciate the powerful voice, lyrics and bits.really loved that maniacs song Today i feel in a time machine when i hear the songs : (Motorcycle emptiness, Little baby nothing, Stay beautiful etc ) from 1992 when i was 6 years old , these songs are new for me but they're really classic videos and i felt nostalgic as if it always was known
inget jaman SMA...,
Brilliant.
Reminds me of a friends story xx ❤️️
such a great song
50 pence
This is the only song I liked from Manic Street Preachers - Me and only 1,099 other people! I always knew I was part of a small elite :D
